Why are there so many pictures where he doesn't even look like the same person? Is it possible he was merely a character being played by different actors? And why does his skin not always look the same color?

Feels just fine, I don't need this responsibility. Reading about historical figures you tend to see their lives were full of hardship and pain and often they died violently

What I could never seem to understand, is that if people think free enterprise can lead to monopolies, why do they think that a single government entity, that has complete control, would be any different?
10 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
They argue not that monopolies are inherently bad (although they are) but that a monopoly by free enterprise will hurt consumers while a government monopoly will aid consumers. In ideal non-corrupt circumstances this would be true, but that ideal non-corrupt circumstance is unlikely to ever occur.

>>2468370

What are good communism documentaries? I'd like to show one to my students that gets down to the history of it as a whole and shows China, Romania, Cuba, the USSR, etc and how it all falls apart. There's a lot of documentaries, but it all seems very focused on one of these particular places or individuals.

Well, what are you teaching exactly? Just about communism, leftism as a whole, certain countries...
>>
>>2468344
Economic systems as a whole, and their differences. I wouldn't mind showing a couple different documentaries. Maybe one on the Cultural Revolution, maybe another one on the USSR. I find demagoguery and cults of personality fascinating, so we've looked already at DPRK and Cuba this year (when talking about forms of gov't).
>>
>>2468352
Ah ok. To be honest though I can't remember any good documentaries off the top of my head, so I'm sorry about that

Why does everyone here have to fight over religion? Can't we just accept that people will believe different things and we should discuss our differences instead of fighting over them?

Do the exact same thing as the OKW until the end of October. The Opening month of Operation Typhoon was a huge success that encircled and destroyed several Soviet armies. Dig in once November starts and begin sending up Winter Clothing. Stalin was still firmly in charge of the Soviet military in 1941, he will waste hundreds of thousands of soviet lives trying to push your entrenched positions back.

You won't be able to take Moscow, but you will push almost to the gates of Moscow and be able to hold it against the Soviet Winter Counter offensive.

how many ethnic groups have gone completely extinct? and im talking about, no one has any of their dna through interbreeding.

only one i can think of is the dorset people of the north american arctic. they were around before the eskimos and then completely vanished in 1500, with no one having any lineage to them. the inuit family that did have some of their ancestry died out in the early 1900s.

any other cultures completely die out? i imagine there are probably hundreds who got wiped out due to war, disease, and climate change. i also would guess this mostly would happen in the arctic regions, since people there were so spread out and isolated. also all of america since disease must have killed off entire tribes or groups of tribes

were there any myths or stories that mention extinct people?

pic related. the dorset are more extinct than neanderthals since they at least have their dna in lots of modern humans. dorset unique dna doesnt exist anymore

This sort of thing factors pretty heavily into Irish mythology, specifically the Book of Invasions

because it's an undistinguished apocalypse (a common genre) written by a literal nobody, that got accidentally elevated into the biblical canon because the early church thought john of patmos and john the evangelist were the same john

Did people in antiquity read apocalypses like people today read thrillers? What are some distinguished ones?

This may seem like a simplistic, poorly-formed question, but what is it about Catholic/Latin countries that makes the living there so enjoyable?

Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, to a lesser extent Poland, Hungary, the Czechs and the Slovaks, and then in the new world, Mexico and most of South America, who of course get their heritage from those same Latin nations. They all seem to possess delicious national cuisines, a leisurely lifestyle, colorful modes of dress, and a certain relaxed elegance in their general bearing.

Basically, is there some definite explanation for "la dolce vita"?
