Why do modern Brits worship Churchill especially the media and young liberals, even though he was a genocidal racist? Why is it okay to worship Churchill but not to like Hitler?
>>2474476
>young liberals
Are the least likely Brits alive to "worship" Churchill
He won and he was entertaining.
nice 1000 year reich there krauts
Are there any alternate flags for Europe?
This one is so bland and boring
>>2474129
>>2474129
I quite like it desu
>inb4 someone posts a nazi flag
Something Christian. Something with a cross. Since, after all, Christianity and the values it engendered are the bedrock of the modern values and liberties the EU prides itself on.

are you implying metaphysics isn't idealism?
>>2473580
Materialism is a metaphysical thesis just like Idealism. Materialism happens to be false while Idealism true.
>>2473583
>Materialism happens to be false while Idealism true.
That is going to take a lot longer than a 10 minute youtube video to prove
Why did everyone forget how to draw around the time Christianity came around?

Regression of art
>>2473328
The church forbid any art other than a strictly proscribed style with strictly proscribed religious subject matter.
Medieval art thread?
why did America and the Soviet Union steal all their scientists after war?
>>2473101
Who says that? Only butthurt commieboos and shit eating cucks think that. Nazism was badass and Hitler was a hero.
>>2473111
Hence why they lost and Germany was reduced to rubble
>>2473117
yet we stole all their scientists.....
fuck the reason we got to the moon was because of Nazis
My professor insists that most colonization efforts by European powers resulted in a net loss money wise. Is this true? Did they make up for it with manpower/bases/rare strategic resources?
>>2472612
>most
Yes
>all
Definitely not.
>>2472612
I don't see how that was possible. While most silver and gold, mostly silver, was going to China, after the Opium war, Europe became fucking rich, especially with the industrial revolution.
>>2472623
I should clarify maybe not Portugal or Germany, but the majority of the colonial powers probably saw some return.
I was reading Herodotus' Histories and he mentions that the Egyptians customarily practiced circumcision for cleanliness. So did the Hebrews pick up that custom from the Egyptians then? I've been under the impression that the hebrews 'invented' circumcision but it would seem to make more sense if they picked it up from the dominate cultural hegemon rather than vice versa
Freud has a rather interesting book on that subject called "Moses and Monotheism" where he argues that not only the circumcision is originally egyptian but so is monotheism with the the whole Akenaton reform shenaningans.
>>2472590
wasn't that hard to find
also circumcision is a global anthropological phenomenon occurring occasionally among small tribal groups to large societies. particularly in africa it pops up here and there, all over Bantu culture. it's probably been going on here or there since prehistory. between phimosis and infection, it's not unsurprising that it pops up more often compared to some other mutilative habits.
Why not read the Bible and learn the origin of circumcision offered there before resorting to half-baked speculations based on loose cognates in other cultures?
"I don't like socialism or communism, they both suck"
"Cool, so what don't you like about socialism?"
"Marx was a horrible person who deserves--"
"LET ME STOP YOU THERE"
so do you get enjoyment from arguing imaginary opponents in arbitrarily constructed dialogues or what? if so maybe you should consider a career in political comics
>>2472559
>Marx
>socialism

So what exactly is wrong with usury? No one sane would give away their money just like that, without wanting to make some profit in return. It's capitalism 101.
If you have nothing to pay with, then don't take out the loan.
because back then the people who practiced usury were essentially just loan sharks who preyed on people at their most desperate hours
>>2472462
Nothing. Institutions of credit are a vital part of a modern economy, and usury is necessary to make such a process appealing.
Define "usury". Usury doesn't necessarily mean credit
What was his fucking problem?

Filthy phonecian lover, probably a baal worshipper too

Scipio was a faggot.
Why didn't the Song Dynasty fortify the Great Wall?
>>2472323
They werent believers in walls
It was cheaper to pay off the steppeniggers to not raid them
>>2472337
>spend lots of years, workforce and money to build a huge wall
>lmao ain't using that shit better pay those steppe fags
Fucking why.
Hey /his/, femanon here thinking of converting to Islam. I am non-religious at the moment but I was raised Christian but never baptised. as my parents wanted it to be my choice.
My main reasons are that:
1) Islam's teachings fit with my worldview much better than Christianity's do.
2) I think that religion is an important means of socialisation, so if I want to have a family one day it seems important to me to have a religion to bring them up in.
3) I think Islam is a force for unrepentant social conservatism in the modern world in a way that Christianity only surrenders ground on.
4) Muslims I have known seem to actually take their religion seriously, I have a lot of respect for that.
5) White men are only interested in video games and easy sex and don't want to man up and start a family, or if they are Christian they seem to usually be betas afraid of asking out women.
Is it treasonous to the country I am from to do this? I am drawn on this question.
I also don't know which school or sect of Islam would be the one to go to, so have not made my mind up on that yet.
>>2471972
isn't an important matter for whether to join Islam whether the Islamic conception of God is true and if Muhammad actually was a prophet?
>>2471972
>1
and what exactly is your worldview? why islam specifically and not another religion like orthodox christianity or hell, shinto buddhism?
>2
fair enough
>3
and why do you think islamic social conservatism is good?
>4
this is anecdotal bias.
>5
oh, you're trolling.
>>2472020
What clearly matters to (troll) OP is whether Islam is the strongest religion with the most conservative and forceful men.
OP is basically "how can christian men even compete? tell me it's ok to think this silly boys"
Is He the greatest philosopher / thinker alive today? Serious answers only please, no memes.
>>2471854
yes
No. He is shallow.
>>2471854
NO, AND THE MERE NOTION THAT HE MAY BE IS RIDICULOUS IN ITSELF.
HE IS NOT EVEN A PHILOSOPHER; HE IS A SOPHIST; HE IS NOT A THINKER EITHER; HE IS A SPEAKER.
Is Idi Amin the worst dictator in history, seeing him from the viewpoint of government successes? A lot of dictators such as Stalin and Franco, even if they were extremely authoritarian leaders, made impressive economical growths in their respective countries. But from what i've read about this dude, he literally took the power just because he was going to be arrested for using army's money for his own, he didn't had education and couldn't read, did a shit tier economic management and slaughtered about 300.000 of his own fellow countrymen.
Seriously, can someone with a knowledge on African history tell me if this incredibly inept leader had at least one redeeming quality?
Pol Pot was worse.
Just watch "The last king of Scotland"
Well,Garringan didn't exist,but is still a good movie
>you will never live among Alcibiades
>you will never lust over his godly body and watch him training in the palaestra
>you will never look at him in his gorgeous purple mantle
>you will never witness him abuse his wife in public
>you will never be part of his golden youth group of friends, getting drunk and crash Socrate's party
>you will never have sex with him
Why even live?
didnt he switch sides a bunch during some hellenic wars with sparta or some shit? sounds like a bit of a bitch desu
>>2471544
It was mostly political rivals that drove him to leave and switch sides multiple times. The guy himself didn't seem that bad.
>>2471544
He was sentenced to death in Athens for a crime he most definitely hasn't done.
He was a bit provocative but he loved his city at least as much as he loved himself.
