What's the deal with the Caucasus?

It seems to be filled with hundreds of different meme ethnicities that are the washover from ancient civilizations and conquerors but somehow survive rather than assimilate fully like most Mesopotamians/Anatolians did and now are a clusterfuck of ethnic wars for independence and the right to a sovereign state.

I mean yeah I guess that's pretty much what the deal is
>>
>>2479163
But how did they avoid the assimilation process?

Is it cause of the mountainous region that protected clusters of them every time some foreign force tried to add them to their empire?
>>
>>2478909

>assimilate fully like most Mesopotamians/Anatolians did

I don't know about that. There are dozens of meme ethnicities in Mesopotamia. Less so in Anatolia but that's because of conflict rather than assimilation

The Caucasus Army was one of the most well-trained and led forces in the Russian Army. Meanwhile the Turks' forces in the Caucasus were always second-rate, and starting in 1915 were always far outnumbered and outgunned. Plus you're not really giving the Russians due credit- they only really started to suck totally in 1917/1918 when they were collapsing, by which time there was no major fighting in the Caucasus (unless you count the Turkish offensive in 1918 against the remnants of what USED TO be the Russian army). Up to that point the Russians always had trouble with the Germans, but had a fair amount of success against the Austro-Hungarians- see the Galicia Offensive and the Brusilov Offensive.

The Turks actually did better against the British than the Russians iirc. Not to mention the Eastern Front itself. The Turks deployed the XV Corps, VI Corps, and XX Corps against the Russians in Europe. In this scenario they did very well; the XV Corps inflicted about 3 casualties for every 1 it took.

Why isn't anybody particularly fond of resolving the problem of evil with "might is right" - Omnipotence means Omnibenevolence - infinite might means infinite right?

Personally, I think it's perfectly acceptable. It doesn't diminish the glory of God if you view it from the lens of master morality rather than slave morality - there is a universe, and He demonstrates virtue in bending it to His will. Even from slave morality, one could argue that He brings order to the universe.

So why isn't this solution to the Problem of Evil popular?

You're completely wrong and out of step with Calvin. Firstly, it is troubling that you seem to have been influenced by Nietzsche more than scripture.
Now God is good by nature and not by will. This demonstrates that the moral law, as flowing from His divine being, is eternal and inviolable. It is not possible for God to practice evil for the same reason it is not possible for God to create a boulder too large for Him, it is a logical contradiction. God is light and in Him there is no darkness. Thus, God is not good because He wins, rather God is good because He is God.
Now, as for the problem of evil, the solution is simple. The greatest good is worth achieving at all costs, the greatest good is the total glorification of God. For God to receive this glory, He must demonstrate His attributes. Two of these attributes, justice and mercy, require evil to exist in order to be demonstrated, for how could He punish evil without evil, and how could He forgive evil without evil? This is why He chose some for salvation and some for damnation before the foundation of the world, that the vessels of mercy would glorify Him in mercy, and the vessels of wrath would glorify Him through justice.

When your argument gets to 'might makes right', then anyone is in the right to stop you with force. Arguments based on things other than 'might makes right' can be listened to.
>>
>>2478683

Because then you disregard the NT "god is love" stuff. And you then run into a lot of moral issues. It isn't that people never considered it, but people who tried to use it as an argument quickly realized it would lead to a lot of problems and make god so reprehensible that he wouldn't even be worthy of worship. So, they stuck to the softer part of the NT and other philosophical routes.

Even people who do say that god is the one who dictates morality hardly ever say it's only because he is all powerful and that is the only reason for it.

To start off I will point out a religion is simply a collection of beliefs, culture, and morals that create a world view.

Nu-atheism is a nu-religion that sprang up in the past 10 years. We will now attempt to define nu-atheism fairly but also without giving it more credit than it is due and without being satirical but in fact serious.
Here is what I have so far; Post ideas and I will compile it and edit a page.

Primary beliefs:
-logical positivism
-no gods

Major figures:
-Richard Dawkins
-Bill Nye (Science Guy)
-Sam Harris
-Christopher Hitchens

Eschatology
Unless a strict set of rules regarding consumption and clean energy are followed strictly the world will heat up and become a hellish uninhabitable wasteland within our lifetimes. This event is always a few years away since this religion appeared in the 1970s.
>>
Notable Moral Semantics:
-libertine principles are encouraged and followed
-homosexuality is actively promoted and adherents to this religion actively seek to have the government give homosexuals special privelage and protected status
-Promiscuity is a virtue
-Drugs and alcohol are considered harmless and enhance ones understanding of the world
-Although fitness is a concern most adherents tend to be overweight
-Promoscuity is considered a virtue however adherents typically do not have children leading to a global decline in their numbers
>>
Relation to other religions:
-Christianity: Extremely hostile, nu-atheists use government and media as means of attacking Christianity at every opportunitity seeking to convert Christians to the nu-atheist religion.
Islam: Some nu-atheists feel that muslims must be converted to nu-atheism yet others consider islam to be peaceful and to be encouraged despite Islam's seemingly incompatible views on homosexuality and nu-atheism itself
-Buddhism: most nu-atheists consider buddhism to be 'pretty cool' and a large percentage of would even say they practice buddhism, despite buddhism's many dieties and ideological incompatibility with positivism.
Judaism: Nu-atheists hold Jews in high regard and many nu-atheist leaders are in fact Jewish: Bill Maher, Sam Harris, Daniel Dennet, etc. Nu-atheists look to these Jewish figures for spiritual guidance and moral counciling via weekely television broadcasts that mix humor and moral instruction.

John Earl Haynes. He's THE historian for McCarthyism and was the department head for the Library of Congress' 20th Century U.S. Political History for decades. He wrote several works on McCarthy and McCarthyism. One such work compares those named by McCarthy with those outed as security risks in the Venona Papers and there's a shit ton of overlap.

What was it like?
How was Italy as a colonial power and how did it manage it colonies?

Let me put it this way. Perhaps the most significant factor in how the North African campaign of WW2 went down was that there were 0 kilometers of railroad track in Libya. Not a one. It meant that it was extremely difficult to move armies of any size around there, because the supplies that they depended on had to be brought up by camel or motor vehicle, neither of which was easy to do.

Everyone else managed to get railroads in their colonies. Egypt had them. Tunisia and Morrocco had them. But the Italians couldn't get them in theirs, because Italy was as shit at colonial administration as they were about everything else.
>>
lt was expensive and pointless. Instead of developing poorer parts of Italy like the South, Italian governments threw a good chunk of cash trying to settle poor Italian colonists to Africa, but pretty much no one wanted to live there. Italians did urbanize Libya a bit. lots of new stuff was built during their rule, but it was basically for nothing,

Italian colonists were settled in relatively larger numbers only in Eritrea. Today a handful of Italo-Eritreans exists, but most returned to Italy.

It was okay, but they didn't have enough resources to properly develop their own country so no way they could have done much about african colonies.

Still, italian colonial buildings are nice and are still around as the best areas in somalia, which is africa tier by africa standards

The popular view belief of Christianity is that when we die, we ether go to Heaven or Hell. Mainstream Christianity describes Hell as this evil place where you suffer for eternally.

Matthew 25:46 says

>And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

while Ezekiel 18:20 says

>The soul that sinneth, it shall die

The famous verse, John 3:16, even says

>For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

And there's even mention of a REALM for the dead in Psalms 9:17

>The wicked go down to the realm of the dead, all the nations that forget God.

If we're talking ETERNAL HELL then that totally contradicts what's in Revelations about the second death. So, does Mainstream Christianity's view of Hell does exist in the Bible?
