>"Having crushed the Bulgarians, Basil exerted his vengeance by cruelty - he was said to have captured 15,000 prisoners and blinded 99 of every 100 men, leaving one one-eyed man in each cohort to lead the rest back to their ruler. Samuel was physically struck down by the dreadful apparition of his blinded army and died two days later, on 6 October 1014, after suffering a stroke"

What's some of the most remarkable displays of honor in history?
9 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>2530878
Undoubtedly the ones that were never recorded. The ruling classes only ever boasted of honour and never fulfilled the promise. Only the poor sods who put morality over wealth took honour seriously
>>
My sister flirted with an infidel so I stoned her to death to prevent family shame, so honorable.
>>
>>2530878
When the Americans and the Germans teamed up to take out the SS at that castle IMO. WW2 was full of honor like that, like the German fighter who escorted that American bomber back to safety.

Why do Greeks suck so much at fighting Kebab?

The Arab conquests of the 630's started when The Byzantines and Persians both were exhausted from fighting a 20 year war against each other,

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byzantine%E2%80%93Sasanian_War_of_602%E2%80%93628

neither empire had the manpower pool to defend against a major invasion, so both crumbled to the Arab conquests with undermanned armies to defend themselves with.

Though it is fair to say, the Byzantines fared a lot better in their wars than the Sassanids did. Persia fell in 20 years to the Caliphate, while the Arabs had their entire army annihilated at Constantinople, and peace was eventually signed in the 1050's.

No one would say the Byzantine Arab wars were a complete curbstomp, as both sides fought each other to a standstill over the course of centuries.

also fun fact, the Byzantine Arab wars is one of the longest continuous wars in history, at 416 years.

Did an "Indo-European" "expansion" really happen?
152 posts and 20 images submitted.
>>
>>2530779
No its all based on speculation, we have no idea if Homo Sapiens is actually native to Asia and migrated into Africa.
>>
>>2530779

Indo-European theory in a nutshell.

One day 5000 years ago. People living by the Black Sea had a mutation causing Haplogroup R1b and blue eyes. They were the first "Aryans". They decided to spread out in every direction killing the native people of Europe, India, and Iran and raping women and spreading their language.

It's borderline science fiction.

The Yamnaya were shitskins and blue eyes and possibly light hair as well was already present in native European hunter gatherers: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamna_culture#Physical_characteristics

>The genetic basis of a number of physical features of the Yamnaya people were ascertained by the ancient DNA study conducted by Haak et al. (2015), Wilde et al.(2014), Mathieson et al. (2015) : they were genetically tall (phenotypic height is determined by both genetics and environmental factors), overwhelmingly dark-eyed (brown), dark-haired and had a skin colour that was moderately light, though somewhat darker than that of the average modern European.[18][5] Surprisingly, given their pastoral lifestyle, there was little evidence of lactase persistence.

you know you can still order them and try one on yourself right?

I'd imagine modern corsets are different from historical corsets.

Hi, /his/. There's been polls here for what religion/world view you subscribe to, what period of history you like the most, etc, but what personality you have. I think it would be quite interesting to see how this board comes out.

If you've never taken a "Myers Briggs type indicator", before, you can take a fun one here:

The poll:

Mine is ENTP

Most people find that their personality type changes, especially the last couple letters, but every time I do it I always get INTP.

>>
>>2530810
Likewise, but I always get ENTP.

I'm predicting now that there will be no ESFPs on this board, purely because they cannot hold a serious conversation for more than 2 minutes.

They were a people who flourished all over Europe from 3000 BC up until the expansion of the Roman Empire. Most of the continental languages are dead. Today "authentic Celts" only survive in small numbers in the British Isles and northern France.

Im reading the Hindu epic Ramayana. Its reaaaaly long.

Redpill me on Vishnuism, is it true that different sects revere different hindu Triat dudes as being "supreme" over the others?
How do they settle their disagreement? Or is it more of a "who's your favorite".

Also Kalki soon brother.
>>
>>2530707

I believe there was alot of rivalry during medival times between Shaivas and Vaishnavas.

But eastern faiths are fluid so most of the time they settle disagreements with "my supreme deity is an aspect of the supreme that I identify more with etc", which actually does go with Hindu philosophy so.

Eastern religions are flexible. Proud to be of hindu-buddhist heritage
