Why was the concept of Nationalism ever embraced? It's so flawed and it uses some aspects of Romanticism to justify the principles behind it, while also completely disregarding some Romantic principles. Is Nationalism an "Ism" of "make rules up as you go along"? Or is it just an excuse for exclusivity and/or racism? Or am I missing the point entirely?

>mfw someone implies social changes like woman's equality, the abolition of slavery, and the decline of imperialism were because of activism and moral advancement, and not simply the natural result of technological advancement making such behaviors inefficient
>>2544955
Pretty sure there were many morally guided anti-slave sentiments in the U.S. and Europe.
>woman's equality
Why was this considered inefficient?
>>2544955
How do you explain the sudden change of women's rights in the USSR almost immediately after the regime change? It obviously came about because the people wanted it to
>>2544961
Women's equality only became a big deal because capitalists realized they could double the labor pool of wagecucks
Historically speaking, were the Weremacht clean?
the rates of STI's weren't crippling
Probably not, war is dirty business and I doubt showers were plentiful on the eastern front. They were probably much cleaner on the western front in general because of the lack of action there between 41-44.
I can't speak much about North Africa but presumably showers were lacking there too, leading to some dirtiness, but the sand of Africa is probably cleaner than the mud of Russia.

When I think ancient history I think war, but I'm sure there had to be some allies back then. What were the earliest allied civilizations/societies that we know of?
>>2544824
loads of greek stuff, for sure.
Let us be honest as well, outside of greek culture you were either an empire or barbarian tribe, which can be measured by centralization.
Only in the Greeks did we see the relatively modern concepts of compromise, leagues, rules of engagement, etc.
>>2544832
The egyptians sometimes teamed up with the hittes and babylonians to fight the assyrians.
>>2544832
Gauls dude, and Germani, they had rules of engagement, demands of honor. The Gauls were particularly less underhanded than the eternal Kraut.
Favoring individual combat over all else. They were also the only people to engage in contractual agreements on the basis of honor alone.

Louis XIV had haplogroup R1b and his direct descendant Louis XVI had haplogroup G-M201. How is this possible?

At least one of these women cheated on her husband, got pregnant and tricked her husband into raising the bastard as if he was legitimate.
>>2544097
Is the G one matrilineal? R1b is patriarchal so that might be what's going on.
>>2544154
Sometimes I wonder how many monarchs and nobles and shit are actually bastards and their modern descendants have nothing to do with the founders of the dinasty
