daily reminder to all wehraboos

>the german offensive began being pushed back weeks before the russian winter started
>horses outnumbered ALL vehicles about 4:1 in the german army
>the german tank doctrine was so bad that they had to completely rework it after being BTFO by russian tanks
>german tanks were almost always terribly overengineered and terriblt designed

Wasn't the Wehrmacht's entire strategy built around decisive battle? And as we all know, the USSR was anything but.

Hitler not allowing retreat on a strategic level after everything went to shit didn't help matters.
>>
Daily reminder that if the US and UK had not supplied the soviets with materials and intelligence it could have gone a lot different.
>>
>>2592912
It would have been different, but the Nazis wouldn't have won either way. The Nazi retreat was already happening by the time lend-lease was in full swing. The Soviet advance wouldn't have been as swift without Western assistance, and whether or not it would have stalled is arguable, but the Nazis still wouldn't be able to turn the tide.

I don't know why I have such a fetish for the Yamnaya recently.

I think I find it kind of mindblowing and exciting that all (or most) Caucasians have some verifiable common ancestors about 20k years back.

You don't have to go that far back with some groups. All Europeans are directly related to Charlemagne and pretty much everyone else who was alive back then and had offspring.

These threads are cancer and always devolve into some Iranian wewuzzing rather than any meaningful discussion about Yamna culture or it's origins

Why didn't a state along the lines of the United States arise in South America? I can understand why Mexico wouldn't turn out that way, but seriously Argentina, Chile, Brazil, and Venezuela all seemed like they had good futures and they don't seem to have amounted to much in the history of the 19th century.

Also more broadly what happened to South America after Bolivar's revolutions?
14 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>2592620

Probably because the Portuguese and Spanish Empires / nations also declined whereas the USA had trade ties to the booming British Empire.
>>
>>2592677
Were there any attempts to cultivate closer trade relations with the United States on the side of the South Americans? Post-Monroe Doctrine how did Americans view these states?
>>
Because Latin America was divided among cultural, ethnic and racial lines due to the very nature of spanish colonization. The United States was formed from Anglo-Saxon protestants with a homogenous culture. Latin America is divided by Mestizos, negritos, castizos and indios.

Can someone briefly explain to me why the first German invasion of France (1870) was successful, the second one failed (1914) and the third one was successful (1940)? And another thing, why was Germany able to subdue France in 1870 without crossing into Belgium but needed to invade Belgium to circumnavigate the French army in 1914? I get that the British contribution to the defense of France was important, but they also contributed in 1940 and that didn't go so well. So what did the Germans do differently during each of the three invasions?

>>
>1st: French mobilised too slow, Prussian army had more troops and mobilised quickly, ran straight to paris to win
>2nd: they invaded through belgium and hit a wall of french and british troops, exactly what they were expected to do
>3rd: french expected them to do the exact same thing. also thought a forest was an impenetrable wall, also thought the belgiums had their own maginot line or thought they were good for anything
there's a very quick and probably inaccurate rundown
>>
>>2592617
That sounds about right, I've heard about how the Germans went through an unguarded forests that the Allies thought was impassible. Thanks.

In 1870 didn't the French expect war? Bismarck had just whooped Austria and there was tensions over Luxembourg. I'm suprised the French were slow to mobilise.

In 1914, is there been anyway the German plan (Schlieffen) could've worked?
>>
>>2592628
I'm probably not the one to ask but
>didn't the french expect war
yeah but if i recall correctly they were slow to mobilise completely, i dunno why. I know the Prussians had 400,000 mobilised troops to France's 200,000, so the odds were already against them

I dunno about the schlieffen plan working

Why doesn't Greece take advantage of all the memery about the Spartans and start using modern dress uniforms that look like ancient Greek armor?

Going full historyfag is fun. It worked out okay for Scotland.

Could "White Guilt" still prevalent in the West if WW II and Holocaust never happen?
15 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
Maybe?
>>
before WWII the white guilt came from colonialism, but it wasn't real white guilt as 'white' wasn't recognized as a race back then.

fun fact: the germans were always very proud of themselves for not being colonizers. they looked down on british, french and spanish as genocidal maniacs but when they committed their own genocide that all went out the window.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyrsenian_languages

They were immigrants from Anatolia to Italy who cucked the local Indo-European Italic people who had already cucked the pre-IE people a little while earlier.

Italian ultranationalists dispute it with bad arguments because they are so autistic they think "Anatolia" means modern day Turkish people.
>>
>>2592256
Why were there so many anatolia migrations when anatolia is pretty good for farming?
I remember some anatolians also finding their way to ireland.

I have a signed German arbeitsbuch from the 1930s
I also have an original German stahlhelm from WW1 that was rusty and had a bullet hole in it when I got it but being the stupid kid I was I de-rusted it and painted it grey

I've got a silver cigarette case my great grandfather was given by his CO for saving his life during the Somme.

Well there's all kinds of antiques lying around the house (old books, old maps, a sword, an Italian WW1 helmet, various old items),there's too many things to count because we kept our ancestors' things as well as buying more at flea markets.
So here's an interesting item, the pic is not mine but it's basically the same; I have one of these contraptions. After the war, many German helmets were collected because their shape was perfect for shoveling dung.
