did the council of Trent prove him right about their being problems within the catholic church that needed addressing?
not if he was right in everything or anything close or if he made things spiral out of control

Even before the council of Trent the catholic church agreed with most of his theses. The papacy had studied and researched his theses for about a year and then made a public declaration about how about 60 of his theses were correct and would be accepted by the catholic church, but about 30 of them were heretical and the church asked Luther to rework his view on those theses. Luther then went on to claim that not only are all of his theses are right, but that the catholic church is incorrect as a whole and should be completely demolished and everyone should just follow what he says. I don't believe the catholic church and Luther could have ever seen eye-to-eye and reach a theological agreement as Luther just did not believe that the papacy should exist.

they took steps from being completely horrible to less horrible. The radical splits weren't bridged

Yes, but you didnt have to go full retard to address them. St Dominic and St Francis did it just right.

Why did the peasants chimp out during forced collectivization?
12 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
They were defending their right to property, their right to make a living, their right to have food. But Stalin and his henchmen couldn't stand this so they carried Holodomor, killing tens of millions of Ukrainians.
>>
>>2599449
Didn't the Ukrainian peasants burn their own crops to protest?
Did forced collectivization imply a negative affect on their quality of life? Surely, it wasn't all for property, they must have been fucked over in other ways.
>>
Because peasants are petty-bourgeois scum that must be physically removed and substituted by agricultural machines built by party-loyal urban proletarians.

Why are so many constitutional amendments so vague?

4th Amendment
>"No unreasonable searches and seizures."
>Doesn't define unreasonable searches and seizures

8th amendment
>"No cruel or unusual punishment."
>Doesn't define cruel or unusual punishment
>"No excessive fines or bail."
>Doesn't define excessive fines or bail

10th amendment
>"Whatever powers the federal government doesn't have are reserved for the states or individuals."
>Doesn't define what those powers are.

16th amendment
>"The government may collect taxes."
>Doesn't define how high taxes are allowed to be or how they can be used.

None of these would pass legal scrutiny today. They're all far too vague and open to interpretation.

society is constantly changing, rather than a set of laws the constitution is a set a principles that should be timeless and applicable to any number of situations.
>>
>>2599422

Because it's a constitution, not a statute book. And especially in a common law system, they're vague on purpose, to give the judiciary the sort of power and flexibility by defining what those vague terms mean as needed.
>>
>>2599435
The problem is they are so vague that they effectively allow the judiciary the power to completely ignore the spirit of the amendments. For example, collecting everyone's private emails in a giant database is OK because the airwaves are public territory. And since both parties participate in this erosion of liberties, almost the entire Bill of Rights gets trampled. It'

He wasnt even considered the greatest swordsman in Japan during his lifetime: Yagyu Munenori was.

At the very least Tsukuhara Bokuden, Kamiizumi Nobutsuna, and many others have a record at least on par with him. That's not even covering Europeans swordsmen who racked up a similar record

France and Spain were by far more dominant than Britain and Germany prior to the 19th century.

17th century protestant based philosophy ( Hobbes and Locke) directly influenced modern scientific thought

So it's been contemporarily agreed that the Anglo-Saxon invastion never happened, correct?
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Nah, that's just left-wing historians downplaying the importance of mass migrations and invasions because they don't want that to be used by their contemporary political enemies.

It definitely happened, otherwise the British would be all speaking Welsh.
>>
>>2599209
It happened. But there is no evidence either way for a violent or peaceful one. It was probably a mix of both.
>>
>>2599343
Seeing as there were evidences of the Roman invasion, the Dane invasion, and the Norman invasion, respectively, and none of the Anglo-Saxons, we can at least conclude it was migration, not an invasion.

Some people think Bede made up the Anglo-Saxon race, but then what of the fact English became the dominant language (that is, before French and then English again) as
>>2599227 said.

It must have been a mass migration. The Celts were probably too pussy to ask them all to leave, but England was pretty open country back then, right?

I'll start
When the communists took over the courts after September 1944, 20 out of the 43 ministers, influential statesmen, high clergy, who directly challenged Hitler and stepped up for the jews, for executed for being Nazis. The rest spent their lives in concentration camps.
The person who declared war on Nazi Germany got cangoroo court'd and executed as well.

It's over, genetics confirm ancient Egyptians had no subsaharan African admixture, Afrocentrism is dead.

Tweetsfrom the Society for American Archeology (SAA) 2017 annual meeting:

- [Ancient Egyptians] cluster w. Neol & Br Age Levan t. STRUCTURE: important Natufian component, some Anatolian, Iran Neol

- substantial mtDNA continuity from pre-Ptolemaic to Ptolemaic, L increased post-Roman

- ancient Egyptians basically lack SSA affinity beyond other Eurasians until Roman times

During and after WWII Vanuatu islanders worshiped Prince Philip as a God as well as mythical US-soldier called John Frum.

>Cult behaviors usually involved mimicking the day-to-day activities and dress styles of US soldiers, such as performing parade ground drills with wooden or salvaged rifles. The islanders carved headphones from wood and wore them while sitting in fabricated control towers. They waved the landing signals while standing on the runways. They lit signal fires and torches to light up runways and lighthouses.

If I recall, I believe there was either an airbase or perhaps an emergency landing there during the war, and the tribe was isolated enough that they couldn't comprehend what was happening and so they perform these rituals based entirely on observation. Basically, what >>2599045 said. I love the strange, futile nature of it all myself. Fascinating stuff.
