Basically some mod broke the usual startup routine, or your install is corrupted.
Usual fix is to reinstall and follow instructions.
If it still doesn't work, avoid the mod.

Check slotIDs. Invisible ring should show up in the hand slot and accessories. I think you might need to patch exes for it to work but it's been a while.

Downloaded a mod once that literally conflicted with just about every other mod

Illusion can't kick the habit of porting bad engine choices to Unity.
Why do we live in the timeline where numeric IDs are used instead of a string mapping?
If strings were used, we could establish a community format like:

"AuthorName_ModName_vX.Y.Z"

To be fair, Illusion don't expect anyone to be producing content for their games outside of official DLC but it's about time they officially recognised that the bulk of interest for their titles comes from modding.
Dedicating development time and resources to supporting modding is a net loss and it will naturally affect DLC sales too. Perhaps this is why.

The data formats are pretty open now that everything is packed into Unity's containers and parser code can be easily lifted from decompiling game assemblies yet the limitations of the underlying tech causes problems if you dare to guess the same number as someone else and cause an ID conflict.
Autoresolving conflicts is not a viable workaround since autoresolved IDs will differ from user to user.
The only real reliable long term solution would be to scrap IDs altogether.

From my understanding, it's you literally takes the model from another game and change the code enough so HS will recognize it. Think of it as a prefix face. Sure you can recreate it but it won't look good as the head mod. Look at the Roy Mods and compare them to any fan made DoA girls. Night and day difference

It's not the whole model it's just the face mesh imported from one game over to HS. It's also slider locked so you can't use it as a starting base for anything

All you need to do is save a posted card or scene, from here or the discord or the booru, into the chara or studio folder. That's it. They should work then unless your game isn't up to date. Unless you live in japan or go through a VPN you wouldn't be able to use the in-game download thing anyway. The main game is just making girls and fucking them, all the creative works you see come from the studio.
