I tried several times with some other videos, but my PC is too much of a toaster to deliver quality videos. Some passages are smooth, some get choppy, it's very slow and sometimes it locks at 99% despite trying what was written in the FAQ.

I would rather try it if you have a decent "gaming PC" with at least an i5 in it and a decent video card. Probably would be quicker with less errors/"choppiness" on a better computer.

That's alright. I've admittedly been neglecting it. It's my own fault, really. I had thought about self-hosting the videos, but when it comes to 3D stuff.. those file sizes are toooooo big and the cost would rise very fast.
The downside the site will suffer from even after it is ready is the fact that I'm very time constrained, so content updates will likely be slow. It might help, but it wouldn't be enough. I'm using a hack that will allow videos to be pulled from google photos, where you can get free unlimited storage. Optionally, you can get higher quality by choosing to let it count against your storage quote. This way, I don't have to care how large the files are. It will also help with delivery, so that I don't need high end servers to stream the content at decent speeds.

.dat files are developer specific files.
To extract video data you'd have to reverse engineer the directory structure of the .dat file. That's if the dat isn't using any compression algorithms or encryption.

You could possibly pull the videos from RAM as the game is playing them. That would be much simpler.

That's weird. When I tried dit, I never got to such file size. You're essentially doubling the framerate: it shouldn't be much bigger than twice the original file's size, give or take once the conversion is done. The quality itself doesn't change that much.

Check the bitrate of the two videos (original and converted) and see if there's any difference. Try converting the .mkv file to .avi, .Avi being lossy it should reduce the file size.

I've noticed the jerky animations as well. I don't think it looks that good in 60fps honestly. Maybe the jerky animations were made on purpose to compensate for the lower framerate. As such, it looks very speedy at 60 fps rather than being fluid and smooth.

I don't have a "wow" factor about Ume anymore when I see his renders. It looks good, but that's really it. I feel that the dude really has reached the "peak" of his development and sustains it fairly well but isn't able to go beyond that and "reinvent the wheel" anymore. It probably won't work well with "drawn" anime considering that they very often use frame skipping or animate at 30fps right? I remember the devs of Guilty Gear Xrd mentionning thatt o recreate a "anime feel", they have to use frameskipping for the animations of the characters (the game still runs at 60fps obviously). It looks better on 3D H considering that it's moreoften than not animated at 30fps.
