Yes to both. I personally use a Durovis dive but there are a ton of HMDs out there that may be better for you/cheaper. Cardboard doesn't have a strap so it's not so great, if you're willing to shell out around $40 you can get a pretty good one. The Durovis cost me about $80 and took a month to get here but it's high quality.

You might want to check whether your phone has both an accelerometer and a gyroscope. It won't matter for stereoscopic video like these, but head tracking (for 360° or 180° videos, for example) doesn't work if you've only got an accelerometer.

There is an app called ASAP viewer, I believe, and with any downloaded video it allows you to view it in a stereoscopic view. It possibly works when streaming videos online. Idk if this is what you want, but worth a try.

I'm trying to do this and I can't get my eyes to stay in the crossed position. They always slowly go back to normal. I've been able to get it to work with a wallpaper in some hotel room I was in once but never anything else.

Hurrdurr. I did that, but didn't zoom out enough, and thought the webms were actually staying the same size. They weren't.

Practice with notepad or word or something. Take two Os and put them some distance apart. Then look past the monitor. This is the tough part. You have to actually look past it, not into it. You're letting your eyes focus beyond the monitor. Once that's happening, make the left or right O meet the other one. Then you will see one O along with two other fainter ones. The middle one is the one that would be getting that effect if it was something more complex.

There are a few techniques to learn to look past the monitor. Magic Eye was a company that made pictures that worked entirely on that concept.

A cardboard kit is only like 6-8 bucks. Totally worth it. Even if your phone doesn't have a gyro(like mine ) its a damn good 3d viewer for the price.

Just got my cardboard today. The 3D effect is pretty good, but I don't know if it's just because my phone's screen is shit but having to view it so close up lowers the quality. This has definitely got me excited for the future of VR though.

What player do you guys use for Android? I'm using AAA VR but you can only hide the UI before you play the video, meaning you can't seek if you turn it off. It's distracting to look down and see them while Harley Quinn is sucking my dick.

Vive is probably going to lose the VR Console wars, despite being better tech. Oculus already has a well established developer base, and better name recognition in the gaming industry. On top of that, I guarantee the Vive is going to far more expensive and take a lot more real estate to play in.
