Hi amazing anons of /gd/ - is there any way to make my path like the one on the right, without having to remove the whole path and do that specific part with the rounded pen tool?
I tried now everything and I can't even get the usual lines to appear where you drag the path to be rounded shape

maybe add a circle stretch it and rotate it then use the pathfinder tools to subtract the shape

That sounds really hacky, is there no other way, especially because my path isn't filled?

My AI skills are quite limited and just at the start - I know from photoshop that you can do exactly what you both describe - but with filled shapes, does that also work with just the outlines in AI?
Pen Tool > Add Anchor Point
If it's not like this click "Convert selected anchor points to smooth" on the top bar.

I think there's a shortcut key to hold down for it even. That a majority of the replies don't know (and remain willingly ignorant) is, frankly, quite telling.
There are different ways to accomplish this, heres my way.
Make the solid shape of the nib.
Create a solid circle and rectangle making that split part and the well on top of the nib shape.
hit Window>Pathfinder then hit the first shape called Divide.
direct select the split/well piece and delete it.
quick and simple.

>I'm gonna shit on these other suggestions and not even provide one of my own.
You dont see anchor points in the end result anyway you autist.

There is no need for a fucking point or a fucking pathfinder. This is the simplest thing in the world. I can't believe I have to argue about this...
is this thread the /gd/ version of "I bet you can't even solve this math problem"
