Need to make a circle with exactly 88 dots, all same size.
How do this? (preferably in Illustrator)

seems pretty easy to make on c4d -pic related took me a couple of mins, if you want that variation like a spiral just set the cloner to random or play with the offset value

The circles on the outside are cutoff, sadly
Need the dots to be all same size and distance, like pic related
The biggest problem is how to get exactly 88 dots in the circle, while fitting perfectly

Hard to explain in english... I used a totally empirical way. I'm sure there is a better one. But basically you just need to change the spacing between circles after having the ideal number of circles. I started with the same spacing for circles and points. The number of points (actually distance between points) on a circle is defined by the diameter multiply by pi divided by the unit/spacing. Then I adjusted the spacing/diameters of the circles to get the right number of points.
With a 5 mm space between points you get a first circle of 10mm, second of 20 etc. Numbers of points on second circles will be 20xPI/5 = 12,56. Do that for 5 circles and you get around 94 points + middle point = 95 points.
It's too much so reduce the spacing 88x100/95=92,63.
So the spacing must be around 92,5% of previous spacing.
Recalculate and you get the right spacing between circles 10x0,925= 9,25.
First circle is 9,25 in diameter
second is 18,5, etc.
Calculate the number of points on every circle and add. Gives you 87,12 points plus middle points.

To explain further:
Fisrt circle is 9,25 in diameter, Number of points is 9,25xPi/5 = 5,8
Second 18,5 / 11,6 pts
3rd 27,75 / 17,4 pts
4th 37 / 23,24 pts
5th 46,25 / 29,08 pts
Then find the right approximation to get the right amount of points
1st = 6 pts
2nd = 12 pts
3rd = 17 pts
4th = 23 pts
5th = 29 pts
That makes 87 pts plus middle point, so 88.
Create your circles in Illustrator with the calaculated diameters, do circles/dash spaced by 5mm and reduce the space of the 3rd circle to get 17pts
