What's the name of this kind of design with the compass lines as an X and letters or symbols in the surrounding fields? It's usually more of a vectorized and clean-line look than this one but I can't come up with a name that brings up what I'm talking about, but I see it all the time particularly on hipster-y stuff in Cascadia.

At first I thought you were mocking me but I googled it and got a ton of hits so I guess you were right. Thanks!

I once read that crossed arrows represent friendship in native american tattoo art. It looks exactly like this.
It's a shitty trend that started in the punk/hardcore scene that's been Pinterest'd to death.
This shit is amateur as fuck and every time I see it on some cutesy artisinal soap branding I want to die.

this; exactly
Was in a class where we were redesigning packing / brand / logo for products. These two girls ( I swear its mostly chicks who do this and they're the same ones that think century gothic fits anything) rebranded a fucking milk carton to a bottle with this bullshit cross on it. Sure it looked way better but the logo was so overplayed.

Yeah. I'd say it's the equivalent of just giving up and using Helvetica but at least Helvetica is a good font. This kind of logotype scales like shit and needs to be the focus of the piece to even work.
