Though the only instance I ever really see fixed width used anymore are in Japanese games where they just use an English word every once in a blue moon and since the rest of the game uses fixed width characters for its text, either it doesn't have any code for normal width latin characters or they just go with fixed width anyway since it's made for a Japanese audience. It's extremely unlikely anyone will complain the width isn't correct.
If anything, using the correct width looks weird. It breaks up the flow of the rest of the sentence for native readers:
「おはようございます、田中さん。昨日、あの新しいtransformers映画を見ましたか?」
「おはようございます、田中さん。昨日、あの新しいtransformers映画を見ましたか?」
