Can you guys recommend me some fonts with a "personality"? I guess I just see fonts as having personalities, like Helvetica is this bland thing and Brandon Grotesque is the hip kid or something like that. Rec me some fonts that would look good on an e-ink screen and would be good at small sizes.

The screen size is 1024x758. I've attached direct screencaps. Kindle Paperwhite Gen1

The fonts are at the lowest size.

L to R
Baskerville
Brandon Grotesque
Brandon Text
Clarendon
Futura
Helvetica
Palatino
Segoe UI
Transport

Yeah, that's a given.
Baskerville, Futura, Helvetica and Palatino are inbuilt, the rest are custom.
>>
bump, I guess.

Ah mate, there is no final answer on a typeface's personality. They all have layers, and they're all interpreted differently by people.

Of the ones you have, Baskerville, Brandon Text, and Palatino are the only ones suitable for body copy. The others either have a legibility problem or a tonality problem.

Could you suggest some anyway?

Yeah man.

Sans
Akzidenz Grotesk—Regular is very good for body copy. Very legible and isn't too heavy tonally. It is clean like Helvetica, but more human. Like it was striving towards perfection. You can interpret this humanity as silly, playful, angry, psychotic, dancing, bouncy, etc. It also has a long ascender and descender, so it can seem 'short'.

DIN—Again, very readable, any cut is good. Gorgeous and geometric, it is hard to make DIN seem human, it feels strong, clean, composed, robotic, as if it was AI speaking to you. You could interpret this as psychopathic and devoid of emotion, or as strong, or as perfection, or as clean, etc.

Gill Sans—Very readable humanist, designed by student of Edward Johnston. Calligraphic, every character has it's own personality yet feels like a well dressed Englishman. Hard to not associate this with England. Can be a cold, pretentious, rich person, or a strong and caring father.

Serifs
Caslon / Sabon / Hoefler Text / Garamond / Times / Scala / Novel are all great.

Soz, out of time atm can't elaborate.
