Is this logo halfassed or wat
>>306376
Black text in a bordered box. The execution look good but the idea was expired 4 years ago.
>>306378
That's what i thought too, i'm no graphical designer but i'm trying to get something going to give ideas to a designer. I'm a photographer/videomaker and this logo is for a multi-media association.
I read and watched some courses by Michael Bierut and really dig the way he thinks about his logos.
I'm trying to get something that would be modified with it's context, using negative or positive space as a window for contextualisation.
Sorry if im not clear, french goy here
Feel free to shit on me and give advice
if you want to stick with this basic premise >>306378 break it up a bit like attached image.
don't use the image as a strict guide; it's just photoshop's wave filter using a square wave. play around with that if you want some quick inspo.

try doing a few sketches on paper first also don't mess that much with the type and the rectangle doesn't work that well with that font.
Frogmint is a weird word.
Something like this maybe? Keep it simple, man. Too much going on can make people just dismiss what they are looking at.
>>306406
I did try some sketches but didn't find anything good enough to pass. I decided to go simple with the bold squarish font and the square around it.
>>306442
Isn't what you did less simple tho ? Font changed but you sliced the thing and now it has more rough edges.
Pic related is kinda the basic idea I wanted to go forward
(great references i know rit)
>>306437
it's in France so nobody would think anything else than Fragment

op image is the best "text in a box" you'll get from the thread, it has a good mix of balance and weight
if you're working with a designer, let him sort that element out, dont be a kike
Dude no no no, please trust me on this. This logo is great, never think any logo is "halfassed" If it solves the problem, and fits the identity of the brand, it's good. There's no reason to try and edit it to look more complex, that just shows your insecure about what your giving to the client, go with what looks the best and the original looks the best.
Also, the edits you made aren't as friendly to edits, for instance, for motion graphics the first logo could be great for editing on a youtube video, also it can scale well.
If you're insecure about the work you put into it, make some other branding packages to go along with it, to show the creative process.
Make a style sheet, grab some stock images off adobe stock, put some color grading on them and slap the logo somewhere to show how it fits the brand identity, make some mock ups with the logo on it, write some paragraphs on the consumerbase of the multimedia company and why you think this logo fits their style, and identity.
Trust me, there's no such thing as a half assed logo, go look at the logos of the top 100 corporations and see how "half assed" they are. The top designers of the world use the most basic of design process because they can explain the creative process behind it, and are confident about their work and how much value is in their designs.
Sorry about the wall of text ramble, but hope you find something useful.

Also one last followup to my rant, don't worry about "following a trend" or "your design is cliche" if you honestly feel like the typeface you used, or the style you used fits the brand identity no matter how trendy it is, then you did what the job of a graphic /DESIGNER/ is meant to do. :)
>>306537
Thanks for your implication, it's great to have replies like yours. I'm going to make print/video mokeups (lettres, business cards, website, motion design&so) today and see how it goes. I'll post some results if any of you are interested.
>>306547
it's good because it fits. you can change colours of it, and it will work, change the size, still works, so yeah
if the guy has any education, and can explain the reasoning behind this logo, then why would you give him some amateur ideas?
>>306537
this guy is right
just make the corners of the rectangle round to match the font and your logo is fine
>>306550
like this ?
>>306566
exactly
>>306566
i believe the stroke is not thick enough
>>306569
Double the thickness feels to heavy maybe don't you think ?
>>306573
no, it's better now
>>306573
Never been to this board, but I do draw fantasy line art in Illustrator so thinness/thickness of lines really bothers me sometimes. This one is great compared to the other one
>>306573
More thickness is the way to go
The same weight as the typography and rounded corners even on the inside
I think i'll stick to >>306573 for now
and >>306610 don't want to fragment the shape but incorporate it to the logo like I did here >>306472
>>306608
pic related, is now same size
>>306628
hhhahhahaha you actual faggot
initial logo was good, now this shit looks too squished together, and also looks like a brick/license plate
/gd/ knowledge
>>306629
i'm just throwing out different tests, don't be so edgy
is this a /gd/ style cringe thread?? did you not learn ANYTHING in boating school?
>>306632
never been to boating school : 0
pump
>>306631
fuck off it looks shit
>>306681
Ok then
>>306628
I like, solid.
4U
>>306836
Thanks it's gracious
>>306631
it looks a bit chaotic, but maybe that's what you are going for
maybe try to align them like this?
>>306847
Yes it's nice, also i have an actual graphic designer who's going to work more in depth, designing the fonts ,iterations n shit.
>>306566
make the inner corners round as well???? triggered me af
>>306850
no, inner corners shouldn't be rounded
>>306437
Was hoping I wasn't the only one seeing that. Such a tall G makes your eye think there's an O as well, and the narrow space between M and N make a negative I.
>>307135
and my dick looks like a pen
