I have a few questions for seniors in graphic design or for those who have already graduated in this major. If you could answer at least some of these questions, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Read any good books lately?
What is the culture among students in this major?
How would you describe the students?
What are they like?
What interests or values do they tend to have in common?
Were you easily able to find a job after school?
What kinds of projects or assignments were most common for you?
What were your favorite projects or assignments?
What were your favorite classes? Least favorite?
What were your favorites?
What drew you to graphic design?
Did you enjoy the learning experience?
If you were to go back in time, would you still choose this major?
Who would you recommend this major to?
Preferred alias?

>Read any good books lately?
No, not really. I don't read all that much, and design books don't really interest me.
I do however look at artbooks from games and movies. Yoji Shinkawa's art is bretty good.
To be fair, I should read more, but I don't have the time.
>What is the culture among students in this major?
Normie culture, whatever is in and popular at the moment. So mainly rap and hip hop. Though there are some people that aren't swayed by that sort of thing. It's a mixed bag really.
>How would you describe the students? / What are they like?
For the most part, lazy. They'd rather just take something off the internet and trace it rather than put the work in to make something original.
They mostly aim to do the least amount of work possible, skipping steps that lead to a strong design. Thumbnails for example, some claim it doesn't help them, but when they actually do them most of the time their work comes out many times better.
Even if it's their major, they still half ass things and refuse to learn outside of class. It's disheartening. There are some students though that really put the work in, and those who want to learn, and it shows.
>What interests or values do they tend to have in common?
I'm not really sure how to answer this. I guess most just want to make money, there's no real care for the art.

>Were you easily able to find a job after school?
I'm still in school, and I was approached by the graphic design department to work for them. I work full time, and I'll have a bunch of experience and pieces for a portfolio. I assume it will be easy enough to find a job. Especially with the contacts I've been making
>What kinds of projects or assignments were most common for you?
We did a lot of covers and posters for our classes. Honestly not that much in logos and branding.
>What were your favorite projects or assignments?
My favorite one was when we designed skateboard decks. I actually won an award for mine.
I really enjoy illustration, so I enjoyed projects that let me do that.
>What were your favorite classes? Least favorite?
Favorite classes were the design classes, least favorite would probably be life drawing.
>What were your favorites?
Favorite what?
>What drew you to graphic design?
Whimsy to be honest. I was in a science major, but I noticed I did a lot of art. Decided to take the jump.
>Did you enjoy the learning experience?
Oh yeah, a lot of great professors. Really respectable people.
>If you were to go back in time, would you still choose this major?
Absolutely.
>Who would you recommend this major to?
Those who enjoy creating and making things. People who are open to learning, and willing to put effort in.

>Favorite what?
Ah, sorry. I accidentally repeated the previous question.
Thank you so much, this was very informative. I got most of my generals done and am considering taking this path.

>Read any good books lately?
I don't read any particular books, read a lot on the internet or pick some books up on the go. (mainly for inspiration)
>What is the culture among students in this major?
normie culture, wannabe hip, some alto's
>How would you describe the students?
Lazy dickheads who think they can get away with minimal effort, it would suprise you how much people dont finish their course. We started with 35 people (thats an insane number) and ended with 12.

You would expect art but its more likely to find fashion girls and "gamers"

Yes, its very very very fucking important you're not a nerd who cannot communicate, learn to know people and use it.
>What kinds of projects or assignments were most common for you?
>What were your favorite projects or assignments?
>What were your favorite classes? Least favorite?
