What font communicates "trust worthy", "reputable", "competent"?
helvetica
You will need something with an apparent balance and flexibility. Clear readability and no frills.
While helvetica would be a great choice, (one of my favorite fonts), I would look to the sans-serif family myself. Rounded curves on the miter joint, easy gradients in the slope of the outline. Wide feet.
Do you have a particular use for this font?
Baskerville has been shown to be the most trustworthy typeface in a quasi-study.

Univers Condensed (57 i believe)
it also reflects "institutional" such as a defense contractor

Isn't Helvetica™ sans-serif?
Don't know what OP really is about but Helvetica™ would work as his requesting. Why look for any other font ? Unless you want to be original but that ain't easy creamy breezy, we all already know
Personally I would use a serif typeface instead of gayass Helvetica.
Never did I think I'd find a thread where the status of Helvetica as a Sans-Serif comes into doubt.
it depends you fucking dildo
open sans bold can look trustworthy, as can didot italic.
it depends where it's being used, who's voice the font is trying to communicate, to whom it's trying to communicate, blah blah.

I second Univers if OP is talking about a font style for a logo and Proxima Nova would also work too. For Serif, Bodoni and Sabon are nice.
FF DIN is a nice condensed font that looks good in all caps.
