Made this today, pretty basic.
>>299635
I have an online shop filled with designs I made, I won't post the link unless asked to because I don't want to get reported for advertising but here's an example.
>>299652
Very good, post link pls.
>>299652
looks sick post the link
>>299652
Yep post it
Been waiting on my buddy to let me screen print these at his shop.
>>299652
I'm in the same situation buddy.
>>299718
>>299721
https://ro3clothing.com/
Yeah, I see what you mean. Thankfully I am using DTG, so at least it doesn't cost a fortune.
>>299720
I like a lot of them, desu. The side bar on the website is genius. Did you make them or take them from tumblr, etc?
By the way, you're using Printful right? You have quite low prices, you're not gonna make much profit. Had many orders so far?
>>299722
I created all the designs myself, I want to avoid getting in trouble with copyrights issues as much as possible.
Also yes I'm using Printful, I don't know exactly how much I should charge for them because I want to stay competitive but profits are nice too, I should probably raise the prices a bit.
I haven't got any order yet, all my sales come from my RedBubble shop. I still haven't figured how to do the marketing part.
What about you? I saw you're using DTG, what made you decide on that? I like Printful because it's easy to use and works very well with Bigcartel, less trouble for me.
>>299635
What you know about the dao?
>>299731
It means "road" in a spiritual way
50k hours in inkscape
>>299899
You got the original image? It would make sense if it was on a black sweatshirt
Hi everyone I launched my clothing brand (like a lot of people haha) there's my shop http://unkab.bigcartel.com/
please take a look, first collection comming soon
>>299911
yeah I have the vectors.
you know, i never thought about that on a sweatshirt, but you're completely right. I would love to do this but printful doesn't do all-over printing for sweatshirts.
I mean, it's not like anyone reads moon anyways, but if they did, the message gets across just fine.
>>299950
>yeah I have the vectors.
Really? That's a vector? Very impressive. How long on illustrator? Also you have the file?
>>299835
Im a chad would cop
>>299718
I was just wondering, where did you find the spaceman and the mammoth? Ive been looking for similar graphics but i can never find any.
>>300045
It depends. Google has plenty of stuff if you spend some time searching, but I mostly get them from pixabay and similar free websites.
>>300058
What did you type in for the spaceman?
>>300140
lol, actually it's just a simple human vector.

idk if it's this one, but something similar.
>>299715
wow
38 smoke weed everyday
is that shit catching on in japan too
Which one is more profitable? Redbubble or Bigcartel?
>>300407
With Redbubble you don't have to do too much marketing because it's already quite known, and you can have good exposure if you have good designs.
One of the downsides though is that the print quality is not that great, and you can't really put high margins because you're competing directly with other designers ("why is this t-shirt $30 when all the others are $20? Aren't they the same thing?" kind of reaction from the visitors).
Bigcartel gives you way more freedom and makes you look way more professional, but this comes with more responsibilities, more things to set up, and you have to build up your reputation and attract customers yourself.
tl;dr: It all depends on your skills and how much you're willing to invest yourself into the business.
Redbubble is easy and fast but there's a lot of competition and the products are of relatively poor quality. More profitable short term.
Bigcartel is basically a business you're willing to work on and push forward. More profitable long term.
>>300410
Alright thanks.
What sites do y'all use
I use priintaura only because it is cheap
>>300581
Printful. Not amazing quality, but has plenty of ups
Not sure about conditions, but Threadless has artist shops aswell. Quality is good.
>>299635
>>299715
>>299899
So out of all of you designers- who actually screen prints or can screen print ? That's not direct to garment ?
Or do you just contract screen printers ?
>>299950
Post the pic
>>299635
Im always making little text-based things up as I experiment and like to see what they look like on shirts n stuff.
I wish

Are you implying native Americans are the heroes?
I genuinely, ironically mean this: kys

>>299652
Dude i am going to cop some of your shit. Keep it up.
what printing service do you lads use?
good shit everyone. will buy some shit from you guys once bank comes rolling to me
is anybody here earning more than a few bucks per month from his t shirt design ?
Last pay from redbubble was 29USD. am i doing something wrong ? is it true that posting more and more content will make me have it ?
>>299724
Just post on meme websites or something.
That usually helps a lot of people.
Places such as the reddit vaporwave board.
>>301948
jesus christ that middle finch, and yes the more you upload the better, that's just how discovery works these days
>>301948
influencer marketing
>>299635
I put this up on redbubble for shits n giggles.
People bought it.
>>301948
did you make that pic?
I like minimalism
>>302329
firstly, fuck you and your 4mb file
secondly, you do not love minimalism, you're just garbage at design and do less so you have less of a chance to fuck up
>>302330
Oh yeah, sorry about that, it was a pretty big png I used before, didn't bother compressing.
Never said "love", only like. And yeah, i did that shirt in 5 minutes because I wanted to have dots on my chest.
Never sold a shirt, I suck at marketing
>>302634
creating designs is what you suck at
>>302635
>>302458
Do you have a link to a store or something? I would gladly purchase this
>>301402
Japanese language is beautiful to look at, even when you don't understand it.
I've made around 4k from 3 shirts on redbubble and teepublic since November (political shirts, bernie fags are loaded)
It's amazing how much easy it is to make money with this shit.
>>302678
Post link
>>302685
They aren't good designs, they just make money. I'll share one but no link.
I 'designed' a bunch of graphic t-shirts a few years ago on Print All Over Me. They're pricier than redbubble but the quality of fabric and construction is better and they use sublimation rather than screen printing. Most of my designs were bad vaporwave ones, or manga/doujin crops placed onto t-shirts. I ended up with over $300 of store credit and wasted it on some silly purchases on an impulse.
posting some of my stuff.
let me know what you think. anything is good
>>303216
What shirt and ink did you use?
>>303216
come on famfam, this was a meme on /fa/ for years, even before weeb graphic shirts became a thing. why steal like that and even add some unnecessary text?
This is from a couple years ago, gift shop in town.
>>303354
Same shop
I'm not sure what direction to even go anymore on redbubble. One part wants to go with artistic freedom. While the other half just wants to shill out more vaporwave and sadboys designs.
>>303363
Why not both?
>>303216
>>303217
im using next level fitted T #3600
and the ink im using is ryonet waterbased ink
>>303267
i found the image there, you are correct, but i edited the kanji and the words are an actual translation of what is written in japanese. It said "give me that publication" before, I just changed that to sushi instead
>>303442
yeah, but you are riding on an already dead wave. there is nothing creative about that, so why ask about feedback when you only care about money?
don't get me wrong, I have nothing against making meme shirts, but imo you were acting like you made it yourself.
>>303364
idk I feel like making my own designs is a waste of time because they aren't making money, while the others do.
>>303457
fuck that shit man. I started my own brand with my own design and my own style, and I'm barely surviving, but damn I feel proud whenever someone buys something or leaves me a message that they like it.
>>303441
Looks good. I'm going to print my first shirt very soon. I have some Bella canvas shirts and green Galaxy water based ink.
>>303458
I'm glad you're doing what you want man thats really cool, and you're right I should be doing the stuff I want it's just discouraging sometimes when you don't see any feedback from your endeavors ya know?
>>303499
Yeah, I know exactly how you feel. Well, from what I've learned, half of the brand value is the image, and not the product at all, so don't be afraid to fake some of the hype. make it seem like people are buying your clothes and they love it.
>>303445
got it. i appreciate the advice
>>299635
• 22 prints at Threadless
• 20+ prints from other tee sites
• have done a bunch of designs for various bands
Ask me anything.
I'm not going to tell you who I am or link to my work because
>4chan
>>303555
How much do you get from threadless? Is it worth giving up your design?
>>303556
>>303556
Threadless no longer holds exclusive rights to your designs when printed.
I make anywhere from $300-$400 to $1k in royalties every month, depending on the time of year.
Now some of those prints were special challenge winners, so on those I also received a lump sum of $1k+ on top of the monthly royalties.
>>303557
Interesting, I haven't visited the site in years.
How much work do you have to do to get more votes?
>>303555
Would be interested to see some of your work, why are you hesitant to post there, this isn't /b/.
But I suppose I understand, are there any similar styles you can point me towards so I can get a general idea of what a successful/winning design looks like?
>>303557
what type of designs do you think sell better or which ones doesn't sell at all? do you have someone you look up to? also any bad experiences or general tips?
>>303560
You just have to submit quality work, promote the design all over social media, and then just hope for the best.
Number of votes and final score doesn't matter much anymore.
>>303561
https://www.threadless.com/all
Thats every design that they have printed.
Style, design/illustration quality, themes, concepts are all over the place.
>>303562
>what designs do you think sell better:
animals, space, pop-culture, current trends (no matter how awful they are)...
those are the ones that garner the most attention.
>someone you look up to:
i look to the art masters, those guys you learn about in history books and museums, as inspiration.
>general tip:
Don't look to contest sites as a big or steady money maker.
Do it for fun, a way to get your work out there, get feedback, try new things and grow as an artist/designer. Keep at it till its no longer fun.
>>303565
do you think is better to developt one particular "style" or do you recommend trying different ones? also should i avoid making illustrations about popular characters "fan art"? pic related
>>303578
Not him, but I think you should stay away from fan art stuff.
>>303565
so many potential licensing breaches?
like using the words star trek and a picture of spock, I always thought that was a ballsy rip off but apparently its all ok
>>303743
Sometimes they have contests with official tie ins.

>don't use these shitty 2d mockups. you need to showcase your product to your customer. why would I buy this if I don't even know how it would look like in real life.
>the design itself is quite bland and not that visually attractive. try to look at tshirt designs from all the big brands: supreme, raf simons, cdg, etc
>what does it represent? how is it different than any other 1000 other graphic t-shirts? It doesn't require a meaning necessarily, but then you must compete on price, fit, material, etc.
>>299652
Yo dude, how did you print out your shirts. I have to use rushordertees, and it seems like you have more customization options for your shirts.
Give me some opinions
I really need to know how to find motivation to stimulate my creativity. give tips maybe bois

any idea to make it less bland, but keeping the lines/square/symbols?

Depends on the month, but it's usually not very lucrative. Best months are when there are holidays (like December) where I make around $150. Most of the sales still come from RedBubble though.
Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if my designs are just not interesting enough/too niche/bad but it seems that my business have been plateauing/growing too slowly despite me having done a bit of marketing and SEO.
>>305409
I use Printful, it's more convenient for me since I use BigCartel for my shop and the prices are fairly low so I can have a nice margin without setting the prices too high.
Rushordertees seems interesting, but quite expensive since I can't afford to do bulk orders for now.
>>299652
Bro, how to create this embroidery effect on the emoji?
>>305517
Printful's mockup generator automatically does this.
>>305524
Thank you
Having to use Zazzle right now because I really don't know where to start with screen printing on my own, but customers like the product and I make about $5 off each shirt which is cool for no cost to me. This is the best seller, have a lot more. Selling through a meme page (ctfu)
>>305736
Another
What shop do you use for all over printing?
it's really bugging me that most shop have an awful small space to print on.
I just started a shop.
I am really bad at design.
I know there's easy ways to get around this, ie free vectors, plain text, etc, but I'm having a hard time making more products.
1. How many products is enough? Is there a magical number that attracts customers?
2. Besides just 'get gud' or 'go to college,' is there a good resource online that is approved by /gd/?
3. Normies buy even bad designs, so no big deal, but is social media the best way to get started?
>>306050
Post your work for answers
Thinking of trying my hand at screen printing at some point. Currently use heat pressed vinyl to apply designs to my shirts. Here's something I finished recently as a one off design.

that's really cool
I find front print tees really basic, I'll buy any back print doe

It's easy to say shit if you're not posting anything. >>307498
like a facebook page where you post memes?
what kind of memes are you posting that this design is relevant?
>>307502
Yes
Some of our content is satire of advertising and large out-of-touch corporations
We do "weird"/different memes (not traditional memes at all) that attracts a lot of art students and people into fashion
Here's one of them as an example
(all of them are done in MS Paint or brought to MS Paint from Photoshop for the low quality look, yes it's on purpose)
>>307512
quite interesting, I have to say.
I was thinking about making one of those meme pages. how is it? is it hard work?
>>307515
It takes a while to grind out followers and you have to network with bigger pages to get your name out there
It is surprisingly hard work, but if you enjoy making them then there's no reason not to
>>307516
thanks for the info bro. do you actually make sales from the page? what would you say the conversion rate is?
>>307512
thats pretty good
>>307517
I have links to all of our products on Zazzle on our shop
We make about $5 per shirt and approx. $200 a month
Btw normie meme pages grow a lot quicker and I suspect would lead to advertising for little companies faster
We've already been contacted by an investor that wants to run some shirts for us, but for right now I'd rather sell through Zazzle since it costs me nothing

>>299635
I did this shit a time ago... I still find it funny
Everything thats been posted here is utter rubbish
A word of advice: most human beings have 0 sense of aesthetics and beauty and this also includes many autist designers and their cliche photoshop crap
If you are trying to create fashionable clothes to sell then know you are mostly wasting your time since A you are probably not good enough and B on the rare occassion you might be, it still doesnt matter because people will still buy from established brands they've been programmed to respect
The only way you as the average anon can make any money with t shirts is if you create casual stuff that is witty and funny. Stuff that covers trending topics such as donald trump or things like pets which casual people can relate to. This is the only way for you.
>3 yrs in the t shirt game
all of these designs are extremely weak. Why don't any of you take into account the importance of screen printing your designs? All of these designs are digital pieces of shit
>>308769
totally agree. I recently entered the sargon of akkad t-shirt comp and im disgusted by the choice that he's made for some of the winners.
Designing t-shirts involves a lot of skill and experience. The average joe is not aware of this, hence the production of complete shite.
