desu i feel like , i'm still not ready to create anything this good. It took me forever to understand the folds.
I'll start with photoshop.

if you sit around staring at a blank page you will come up with 2-3 ideas and they will probably all suck

if you spend an hour or two drawing out 20-30 thumbs you will have 95% shit and 5% usable material

Wrong. With proper guides, crop marks, score marks - you don't need to put thin lines inside the trim area of the final.
