I'm sure a lot of you dickheads have done vector art in some shape or form. Go ahead and share.
I put my name as "Vector Art" fuck
>>293871
No sir that was not live traced. Also both of those are the same poster. As is this. But yeah I did that with the pen tool on top of a ref.
>>293875
So you hand traced it in a way to look like it was live-traced?
I..is..a..am I being punked?
>>293875
This shit looks incredibly live traced.
Pic related is fucking clear as day. Those inconsistent "circle" shapes are clear artifacts from it. It's from when you don't have your settings right and it tries to approximate. Even then it wont be 1:1, hence what has happened here.
>inb4 if yer so cool, post your own art
I don't need your validation.
>>293867
To properly, cleanly trace a photograph / drawing you need to have some actual clue how to draw.
So this is what it looks like if it was done with just a low fidelity Image trace. Anywho sorry you guys don't like the execution of my vector "art". However you guys can still share yours.
if this was done with a pen tool and not live trace then how many fucking anchor points do you use OP? 30 per line?
>>293904
A lot. I try to go for a little bit more of an organic look, compared to a geometric one.
>>293905
but you can still achieve an organic look with a reasonable amount of anchor points instead of too many. i'd suggest shooting for only using an achor point at every curve. its going to make you feel limited at first but with practice you're going to realize in the long run it saves time and creates an easier experience for future editing.
>>293906
Fuck, thank you for saying something helpful. Ill try to limit the anchors next time around. Two thumbs up for you friend.
But yeah if you guys just wanna post vector art that would rock.
>>293907
yeah. sorry i wasnt trying to be a dick about it.
>>293909
Na man your good, I am genuinely greatfull. Merry Christmas.
Also someone post vector art fuck.
this is one that I did a year ago that I never finished. its kind of sloppy but i tried.
>>293911
its from american horror story btw incase anybody doesnt get the reference. i think vector art is fun but I just feel like its time consuming for something that wouldn't make a strong portfolio piece.
work in progress
>>293881
this tbhfam
Did this a while back for a skateboard (posted it a while back as well).
The colors look a little washed out on screens, but it ended up looking good on the actual skateboard.
It ended up getting a feature by the dudes who do the board printing, so that was cool I guess.
>>294004
Can you tell me about the work flow for the line work at the bottom?? How was that done in illustrator?
>>294005
I don't exactly remember, but I remember it did give me a little trouble when I first tried it. I was trying to do it with the pen tool, and it never came out right as far as the staggered arcs go. The chevrons also gave me some problems. The shape was easy enough, but to make them look right in sequence I think I just eyeballed it.
Image related is a way I think I ended up doing it. I probably go into too much detail, but I don't really know how much you know already. Hopefully it helps out.
>>294013
Awesome, thanks.
Great skateboard design btw.
>>294004
cool design dude. I think it'll make a great poster.
Did this a few years back, definitely a few spots that are very not clean but it was a while ago
>>294013
That seems like an insanely unnecessary workflow
>>294090
There's probably better ways to do it. Fuck, I probably even did it a better way when I originally did it. I just couldn't remember and this was what I came up with at like 3am.
It seems like a lot of steps, but it really only takes a few clicks (for me anyway) really it takes less than 15 seconds.
I imagine you could just put down a guide or two and skip the first 3 steps by just making the curve right then and there.
I think I tried that to begin with, and when I tried staggering the arcs, it became needlessly complicated.
In any case, the result is the same either way.
>>293910
Dude, live tracing, auto beziering, or using any kind of filter or process to create vector bezier curves isn't "vector art", fuck off trying to be polite, this thread is trash.
>all of you
room clear... of intelligence
bump
>>294097
I dunno man this thread consists of some pretty good vector art, I.Q. memes, helpful arc tips and a guy being hilariously wrong in front everyone? What more could you want from a thread?
Also heres one of VI
I'm still not very clear with what vector art is. Please explain.
>>294386
Vector illustrations I'm guessing.
That's what I interpreted it as.
Either way, this thread is pretty unfocused.
>>294386
>>294389
it's nothing posted in this thread because it's all PNGs and things that probably were not made in a vector drawing program anyway and are just in a specific "no outlines allowed" style
vector imagery just means that it's made in a way where the image data refers to lines/fields instead of points. the advantage is that it scales to different sizes a lot better, but the files themselves can be larger, images themselves are harder to generate, and they aren't as portable as the various older non-vector file types (meaning not a lot of programs can open them natively -- generally, a vector image is re-saved as a raster image for final use.)
most of whats itt is probably just painted in krita through raster methods (raster is the opposite of vector, i.e. the data by points thing as opposed to data by lines/fields) and then vectorized -- the computer just makes a guess as what vectors are close enough to replicate the image.
>>294420
Nice.
>>294420
>it's nothing posted in this thread because it's all PNGs and things that probably were not made in a vector drawing program anyway
>most of whats itt is probably just painted in krita through raster methods
Right, about that.
>inb4 shitty layer organization
I know.
The only thing raster in the final is the stippling. I wasn't about to try to create a metric shit ton of points on the final. My computer can't handle it (shit I know).
When I said
>>294389
I meant that OP probably meant Illustrations, rather than just logos and shit. Arty type shit. I'm well aware the difference between vector and raster.
>>294420
Nope made in illustrator 100%. I'd post shit in eps/pdf if I could but I can't. Im not asking necessarily for people to post a similar style of art, but rather just art made in illustrator or other vector programs. -op
>>294444
retarded live traced hot garbage. It's time to stop posting.
>>294475
Why click a pdf when I can just hover over an image?
That's redundant.
>>294475
Fuck I assumed you couldn't upload pdfs, rad. Also I use the pen tool, like i said.
>>294478
>why?
To keep it vectorial instead of rasterized
>that'redundant
I'm pretty sure you think that word means something else kiddo
>>294547
There's no real reason for it to be a vector, the point of scalable graphics is lost on things like this. There's no benefit to be had with someone zooming in all the way on something that's meant to be seen as a whole.
The pdf files is more to be used for things like resumes and text heavy files, that's where the benefit is to be had. Things actually meant to be zoomed in and looked at, that would be hard to really keep readable and at small file size. Not on OP's shitty images.
>I'm pretty sure you think that word means something else
I'm pretty sure it means that something is not needed, and pointless.
At this point, I imagine you're just sticking to your guns to avoid acknowledging to yourself that you're wrong on an anonymous image board.
And that's ok.
new years bump, first time using illustrator
>>294571
I like it! Happy new year bro
>>294567
>At this point, I imagine you're just sticking to your guns to avoid acknowledging to yourself that you're wrong on an anonymous image board.
Nah man, it's just a misunderstanding.
I love you /gd/ bros, don't get mad.
I agree that uploading pdfs is senseless.
It makes going through the thread messier and it makes it easier to steal other's work.
But >>294444 was saying that it couldn't be done and it can.
>I'm pretty sure it means that something is not needed, and pointless.
Being redundant is repeating the same thing more than necessary, which is pointless and unneeded but doesn't mean that.
>>294571
>first time using illustrator
Congratulations! That's lovely
I usually make portraits, glad if you rate me. :)
>>294885
However I recently have done this
>>294886
nice it remind me of furio tedeshi's work from the thumbnail i thought it was a 3d model however the anti alliasing looks weird on the edges some blur could help smooth out the shapes i think
>>294887
You are right, they look weird, always looking forward for improvement thanks.
>>294892
>>294893
>>294886
Alright I gotta know, how long did this one take?
>>293867
>>294948
Really I ignore it, might go above the 10 hrs, I started it before the game launched, just recently finished it, in part because my lack of interest ( have to admit it was a pain in the ass due to the monotony), now i see it does look cool but doubt about if it was worth it (It is actually pretty clear that I rushed in the legs).
>>294992
have you tried making them more interesting? those are great but they are a little too boring to look at
>>294994
Excellent portrait; Yes I have tried, and it actually happened whit the knight but to my taste the one I posted looks best, maybe I am wrong or needs a little bit of polish, and I will get back to it (Just not for now because as I said it was pretty monotonous, and I am bit tired of it again); Doing portraits slowly has became in something I found relaxing, but also they have being becoming more and more complex.
Speaking of interesting things I look forward on learning to do this type of style (will post it as a reply), but I ignore the name of it, it would be helpful if someone knows anything about it, a tutorial would be superb, but name should be enough, Thanks!.

Thank you very much I really appreciate it, I could not ask for more; The content of the mediafire is awesome, the animals are stunning and the lady of "A CLOCKWORK ORANGE" is very interesting. Here is another polygon one I made in the past.
>>295071
One of my first work with vectors.
>>295072
A work in progress, tips are always welcomed. Would love to see more people contributing
>>294571
It is pretty cool, one of my teachers use to say that simple is best.
>>294004
I asume the board looked astonishing.
>>294895
those look terrible m8 at least stop with the spaghetti hair please
>>295074
Dat gurl butt ugly bruh
>>294068
Better than OP's livetrace garbage.
I made this in Gimp
I've posted this before, but I do little cartoony things like this from time to time for pay or play. I don't have a huge background in illustration and my drawings are always very symmetrical and flat.
