/gd/ share some indesign knowledge whether it be tips, videos etc.
I've been learning some GREP styles https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAo8ihLXiTY&t=329s, very useful for large docs

Appreciate the link, thanks a lot

it probably varies slightly based on your unit of measurement, i work in mm so i am generally fairly mathematical about these things... if you're in the US and work in inches however... i imagine it would be less straight forward.

Where I've worked, we've always kept our guides inside the margin. This is what we did for all content including flyers, catalogues, store signage etc

i usually work with picas because thats how I learned it. I should of specified that, I realize now how my question could be vague without adding what unit of measure I wanted to use.

yeah that seems to be the way the sources Ive been reading sem to say but I couldnt get a straight answer. I'm just going to keep working within the margins because it makes more sense to me design wise and doesn't seem wrong. thanks!

the grid chapter was infinitely better than Samara's entire bullshit of a book.
Is there a way to create a paragraph or character style that will automatically turn all bolded words in the paragraph to small caps?
Right now I have one character style for body text and another for bold SC body text, I just apply the latter style to the appropriate text. It would be much more convenient if it was automatic.
I can't seem to find complicated tutorials for indesign
please could you help me photoshop this?

this is good basic stuff https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhBSUL8inp8
Can someone explain how to correctly add the current and next page number to a single (master) page? I know how to insert them, but the 'next page number' doesn't work, it just gives me the current page number. on a normal non-master page it's fine, but it's a long document and I'm sure as hell not copy pasting that shit every page.
I googled it but got some complicated answers that don't help me.

Go up to your master pages in your you page palette, they are labeled A and B master by default respectively.
Apply the element there and then apply the master to all created pages.
Done.

Not sure if this is the right place, but how the hell do you pirate InDesign? Specifically CC2015.

Now that I've made sure this isn't the right place

There's a lot of advantage mathematically in the base 12 system. It divides evenly by 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12. Picas and points fit this base.
Base 10 only divides by 1, 5 and 10.
