In all honesty, it's all about preference, some people don't like Photoshop. People are more productive on the programs they are used to or prefer. The person makes the good shit, not the programs. Reminds me of artists who make shit in ms paint. So you do you.

if you are a total beginner and just want to learn the basics yeah. it is even better for learning than photoshop imho becuase you have to do a lot of stuff manually instead of auto-stuff like pushing a button or play with a slider.
