it's named dagm8. it's a social networking app for college, specifically the two verticals: as a class resource or social study tool, but also as a means of friendly networking for relationships outside of school. right now it's localized at a university in california, but after will soon be global within coming years.

the only reason you need a school email is so you can't randomly create an account otherwise. the app isn't associated with any school's administration. no academic advisor or anybody working for the school could see the chats that you're in, you're the one who creates the chats and decide who to invite. there are public class chats but those are to meet study buddies, publicly. the app is definitely specialized right now as a study tool. think of IRC for localized communities.

facebook is becoming less and less of a localized social network, half the stuff you see on your feed isn't even relating to your friend's lives. dagm8 consists of DAG (dynamic active groups) of your classes, clubs, hobbies, etc. but they're all localized and only include your closest mates in them. i'm not looking for business advice, i'm just designing logos

I'm interested in how you prevent what you're making from going in the direction you see facebook has gone in, as it started out as the same thing.

Logo wise it looks fine, it's friendly and it looks professional. I just don't like the concept / name / forced 8 etc.
