Can someone please explain how are these intro's made? I know how to use after effects but cant seem to find a way to make these. What software is generally used to create such intros?

Any 3D suite. but why would you make this shit?

This. Also if you're making an intro, don't. Just put an overlay of your logo at the beginning of the actual video and have it fade out after a couple seconds. Intros are obnoxious and don't instantly make you look professional (especially if you use an online service to make one like this kid did).

The only mention of 'effects' is in 'after effects'

Blender

Not Blender. Blender internal or cycles render mode isnt this advanced. Even as a blender user myself, I must say that 3DMax is far more advanced in every way possible than Blender.

You're joking right? This shit is easy as fuck in blender.
It's just a camera spinning around 3d text. Some static particles around the subject.
The little pulse can be done with a texture on a plane, and keyframing the transparency with a circular gradient mask.
The flash is just a lamp moving across the scene.
It's not that blender's not advanced, you're just not thinking well enough.
If you can't figure out something this easy, I'd suggest looking at some more tutorials.

You don't even need to use cycles for this.
