Hey this is a double barrel question. Any help with either would be great.
I've been saving some images from IG accounts (for purposes) however the method I've used is to scan the image in the source of the page and download it that way, which sucks.
>Is there an easy way to download images from IG?
When I download these images with the above method, they are saved as .jpg however photoshop refuses to open them.
To solve this I open them with another program and re-save them as .png or whatever, then it will open.
I'll post the error code in the next post.
>is there a way around this?
tl;dr How can I download an Instagram image and edit it in PS without this long procedure.
Thanks
This is the error I receive when I try to open the images.
>side note, running PS CC 2015
I have this problem as well. My workaround is, after locating the image from the source, enlarging it and taking a screenshot.

Doesn't seem like there is

If you have a lot of images to process I would recommend, if you're on Windows, using IrfanView to batch-process the files and resave them to solve the issue.
Some anon posted a method that involved inspecting the element and adding some &?= argument to the end of the URL to retrieve the original high-resolution images. Can't find it though.
I've never had a problem with normal Instagram pics in Photoshop though. Run the JPEGs through ImageOptim or some other metadata purger and they should work.

>open the image on mspaint
>save as png if it is jpg
i use that everytime photoshop can't open a file

I'm guessing you're talking about looking at the code of the page, but I downloaded an image using the full URL and Photoshop still gave me the warning.
If you want to try it yourself, in Opera you right-click on the image and choose "Inspect Element".
Scroll on the code inspector until you see this:
<div class="_jjzlb" style="padding-bottom: 100%;"><img class="_icyx7" id="pImage_0" src="THIS WILL BE THE URL TO THE IMAGE"></div>
>OP here
Thanks for all the replies. I can deal with scouring the source code for the image each time, I've gotten relatively quick with it at this stage. Plus doing so can often give you the original resolution of the image.
However, as posted in >>277863 adobe forum link,
It's insane that every other software, including paint can open the image yet PS can't.

Thanks

Another way of dealing with the issue is, instead of downloading the image, simply right-click on it, copy it to the clipboard, and paste it in photoshop.

Thanks, saves 1 step at least.
I hope this thread stays some way alive so people may add to the solutions.
Thanks
