How do I design a roofing company logo without falling for the horrible "roof shape" meme? Is it even possible?

does it have to be a roof? how about you post your ideas and we'll tell you if you're in the right path.

I was always thinking of making it at least unconventional and distinctive, so I didn't just want to do some cool placement of text with a triangle above it. I've thought about it for a while but I think that there just wouldn't be a way for the client to actually portray the fact that they are roofers if I went with no visuals. I get that roofing is a very ubiquitous business, but I at least want to get some creativity going.

what if you do a shingle pattern somehow, rather than the whole roof

whats the company name?

maybe write the name in an angle that matches a roof. Or the name underneath roofing like Spanish tiles
or a bit like op's image just simplified, like one pointed line over company name or something like that.
