you forgot vecteezy

There's a bazillion sources out there, he/she didn't "forget" anything. Personally, I hate brusheezy and vecteezy.
I have also found a great resource in behance.com, people post their stuff for free DL all the time.
Also, deviantart.com, another free online art community that is full of free stuff
I've recently found dealjumbo.com. I signed up for the weekly newsletters and they regularly give a special paid vector, image, font, etc. For free.

But there's a problem. Most of these freebie sites want "credit" or make you pay for a small licensing fee. Also, you will not be able to market the work as your own. Bad practice in general, bad especially for a portfolio. Unfortunately I went to a school where they didn't care where we got our stuff from *sigh*

So I recommend to make it yourself. Make your vectors, illustrations, patterns, hand drawn fonts (the free ones suck), icons.

So try PSDTUTS.com and search YOUTUBE.com for tons of tutorials on how to make this stuff yourself. Maybe get a SKILLSHARE account and take courses to get good at stuff you're not good at.

I love google fonts. I use them for a lot. As far as I know, you don't need license to use them. Stock photos are ok especially if you're not a photographer by trade. I understand the whole low budget thing. But if you want to be proud enough to call it your own, you gotta do the work.

in case you guys don't already know... the 'free' things on those sites don't actually mean 'free for commercial use'

You can very much get sued for using that stuff on real projects (especially fonts on dafont) i've seen it happen at a couple agencies.

Recently I found a commercial font on DaFont when attempting to pirate it. Convenient, considering it was for personal use only.
