Stylize the branches as much as you can - perhaps you can use a 'crystalize' filter to make the external branches like polygons.
Or make a logo from scratch based on the picture: black branches and gradient on the leaves.

For your purpose, be cognizant that when using a detailed picture like that, you are always bound to have crappy resolution issues when printing it out. Thus, don't do it.

Move the author name to the bottom and make it the same font pt as the title.

Mess around with the font a bit. I like the type writer look for this but not *that* font. Try another slab serif.

Looks amazing, really stunning.

The box was so, just horrible. I removed it and have gone for a unique approach. As you pointed out, you do lose memorability in the office like design.

Working on your thing actually inspired me for the gist of a logo + website redesign (sustainable/alternative energy company, attached).
Using polygons/facets:

If you are going for a minimalist approach I would suggest something that tells the reader what graphic communication is with as few shapes and colors as possible.

Something like this but with more than 2min of work put in ofc.

What I wanted to enforce was more the idea of how he could approach the problem from a new angle and not be stuck with the same layout in every single "new" cover he created. OP needs new ideas and perspectives more than feedback, honestly all OP's suggestions is cringeworthy both in typography and composition.
