i like extremely soft gradients so its enough you dont notice it but it also doesnt look extremely plain.
>>
Flat is superior
>>
>>254619
This, flat just generally looks better.
>>
Too big of a gap in between colors that make the gradient looks sharp. Try and add a bit of white on all the colors. Just a touch to give it a smooth gradient effect.
>>
>>254597
this
>>
>>254578

Gradients can be good when not obnoxious, but otherwise keep it flat.
>>
>>254597
This basically.
>>
Gradient is a pain to do on websites and a pain to do on print

gradients are the fucking shit

This tbqhfam

Gradients looks good (in print) as long as you apply correct colour theory. i.e. don't do a gradient from primary yellow to primary blue.
>>
Flat looks better most of the time.

Also minimalism is mainstream right now.
>>
a gradient that isn't computer generated and is made by hand can sometimes look really cool. like bob ross gradients

I don't always gradient, but when I do, I interpolate through a perceptually uniform colorspace.

I GUESS you can get away with a gradient if you're only doing digital, but gradients are shit if you're planning on printing it.
>>
>>254578
I have always found gradients to be the hardest thing to nail. Especially when it's going to print
>>
>>257372
Completely untrue.

I say that as a designer/printer.

You probably just don't know how to use them.
>>
>>254578
flat
>>
>>257066
what'd he do?
>>
>>256838
how to get that uneven, grainy look???
>>
>>259681
It's because it's printed. look on the iPad, it's smooth there
>>
>>259750
cool!
that means that one could do an illustration, print it in small size then do an high resolution scan to get a more "warm" and "vintage" look
>>

Image > Mode > LAB colour

Both are rubbish.

Interestink.

flat. no display currently available can display gradients without banding
>>
>>257372
Depends on the type of printing. Sure you could run into issues with Offset web of your colors are a full mix of CMYK, but if plan accordingly it will come out fine.
Same goes with flexo/gravue... Obviously 2 color screens will look nasty blending into each other, but by bleeding/overlapping the screens or achieving the gradient via overprinting it will look beautiful.
>>257400
Then why not explain it to him faggot?
>>
Depends.
