Oh the ripper I got from the archive was this one but it most definitely wasn't one click.

I used the method off hac k forums and had the ripper so I kinda understood how it worked after I ran it a few times and found out that using a debugger was actually easier because I didn't need to ccleaner all the time - at least with myfonts. I never really used the ripper with myfonts because it was easier to do by hand but now I guess they've changed it....

I found a new way to download fonts from myfonts:

1) create an account
2) be sure you´re logged in ...
3) select your font, click on link to webfonts
4) click "try these fonts on your site"
5) copy the code from "easy.myfonts.net..." to the end of the url
6) paste url in browser bar
7) looks like code bukkake
8) search for the ttf code (picture relevant)
9) copy code and paste it after easy.myfonts.net/v2/ttf?[heregoesyourfuckingcode]
10) paste that url in browser bar
11) if you have done everything right a download should start (just tested in chrome)
12) rename file to kek.ttf
13) clean font tables with software like transtype (naming tables are surely fucked up, you have to manually correct this)

that´s a tiresome process so i´m writing a php tool to download all the fonts from a given myfonts url.

maybe someone will write a tool in js to accomplish the same.

if anyone wants to know more i can explain it in detail.

Can confirm now that my previous issue was with the font tables however transtype does not have woff2 support. ;_:
Also to note that win 8+ people like me must possess a copy of transtype 4 and not 3 like that which was included in the ripper. How annoying!

Not them but. Just get transtype. When you open transtype it's very self explanatory and designed for idiots aka the ripped fonts have 'webfont' plastered everywhere and you just rename then and 'convert' them or whatever and it'll show up as a usable font.

The best thing I can suggest to you in terms of traditional scripts is that the Pakistanis have managed to put good-flowing nastaliq into a cohesive font due to the fact that their publications use it as a default hand because of the shapes of their specific characters in that script. Look up "nastaliq support" or something similar on Google, I know it's out there.

With the desktop publishing revolution and the Arab youth growing up now, people are doing all sorts of crazy cool shit with Naskh variants!

Here's how:

Google "3D text Photoshop"

>using Illustrator
Google "3D- nah, just kidding:
1. Write text
2. 'Create Outlines'
3. Offset (this would be the black stroke on the white letters in your picture)
4. Duplicate the offset layer
5. Move the duplicate wherever you want your 3D letters to end (this is the back)
6. Using the Blend Tool, blend the two shapes

This will fill up the gap with a number of shapes you set it to.

Or you can manually connect the vector points using the Pen Tool, creating fewer vertices this way.

What is everybody's favorite fonts? Both most frequently used, and less frequently used but liked.

Does anybody have FF Scala Complete? I mainly need Sans. I dug up a couple of old downloads in the archives, but they were pretty jank. If anybody has the Fontshop OTFs, that would be killer.

Scala has that problem that Futura has where so many foundaries have done so many iterations, it's suddenly become very hard to get a decent copy.

No way to do it in JS because you can't use cURL - one solution is to set up a PHP web service and use a client side JS script to ajax the request.

Other option (seeing as it kind of goes against terms and conditions) is to package a small PHP server applet that people can use on their own machines.

Here's a way to download from Adobe Typekit

1 --- Go to https://typekit.com/fonts and select a font

2 --- Once the font page loads, right click on the page and select [Inspect Element]

3 --- An overlay will popup at the bottom of your browser. Click on the [Network] tab at the top menu.

4 --- Refresh the page (press F5). You should see your [Network] tab populate with items.

5 --- Once page has finished loading, click on the [Type] header to sort. Scroll until you find the items that say font under the type header.

6 --- Click through them and you should see a font preview show up. Find the one that matches what you're looking for.

Note that Adobe also includes 6 Adobe fonts that are not part of the font family you're looking at. So you're going to have to do some digging.

7 --- Once you find the one you want, right click it and choose [Open link in new tab] and it will begin to download.

8 --- The file name is called "download" without any extension, your going to need to rename it to FontNameGoesHere.otf. Make sure you put .otf as the extension.

9 --- Now, you need to drag the font into TransType4 then go to File -> Convert Font and pick a directory to save the file in.

10 --- You can install and use it now. See pic attached for more details..

I have a quick question about type.

I remember reading that I can't use type that I haven't bought. But how does that work, exactly? Is there a library of typefaces that is free for the public to use? If I were to use a type that I acquired and I felt it was most suitable for the project, can I use is so long as I'm not using it to make money? How do I go about doing type experiments?
