hello, my stepper motor drivers are missing steps and i think it's because the current is not enough for the steppers but i don't know the formula for the current limit, every site says something different. Is it Vref / (Rs * 8)

This. It's a potentiometer that sets the maximum current that the board will let the motor draw. If your motor is skipping steps it's probably because your board won't supply enough current to get the motor to turn over once.
