Why is this so common, why is this acceptable?
I'm shopping around for a laptop and every time I see half size arrow keys I drop it from my list

You and me both OP. In 2007 I had a 14" laptop with full size arrow keys. I don't know why they can't do it anymore, but I refuse to buy a laptop with squished arrow keys.
