actually I'm pretty curious right now;
how secure is configured VM with linux/patched and modded windows vista/7/8/10 [which is better for that?] on windows host with configured firewall [only] and hidden ports?
anyone bothered to use that configuration for online work?
>windows host
Garbage.

Whats a good linux OS for hosting? I was thinking arch but then would it be less stable?
Then again when ubuntu does change versions, I hear updating can be even more painful?
>>62463394
Ubuntu LTS is fine.
>>62463394
Alpine, CentOS, Debian, Devuan
>>62463357
>le ebin linux with no fucking software and garbage stability XDDD
sorry but I tested linux enough during THIS YEAR, I would use it only for net but for nothing more, you guys are so fucking lame, you have no good software, you have no fucking gui, options are hidden behind the console or JUST are shit with no choice, and stuff, configuration of many tweaks or drivers is painful as fuck ect. jesus...
>>62463619
system errors, fucking lack of many basic system utilities, everything is harder to do than on windows or mac, you give no shit since 2000, it's almost 20 years when linux is not user friendly or fucking ready for home desktop... you are mentally issued, seriously
>>62463619
>>62463691
I honestly can tell it's not as secure as you think, you have too many holes in the kernel and system itself you are not even aware, you are fucking insolent shitting on windows...
get a fucking life...

I run Fedora on the host with Windows in a VMware Workstation guest. Works fine. I find Windows plays nicer as a guest as the drivers are a little better. Linux without a GUI runs great in a VM but I have always had issues with X and now Wayland in a VM. I do GPU passthrough so even playing games in Windows works really well which is pretty cool.

>everything is harder to do than on windows or mac
only the most simplest of things are easier on windows because of its point and click design.
everything beyond that is much easier then on linux. and most distros have simple gui programs for most things now anyway.

Unsecure as fuck... Even with Tor Microsoft can see everything you do and everywhere you visit.
It's walking into a police station, give them your passport before you put on a mask. If you are up to no good then it does not help how good your mask is. They know who you are and where you are and what you do.
