[re[pst from old thread]

just bought a psp slim (couldn't repair mine and bought the new one that is pretty cheap)
.
it boots and works with music and all that stuff but when I try to play any game it always hangs during the game boot and the memstick indicator won't even blink or light up then it fucking turns off.

I tried this fix
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGRV9KX3btk&t=0s [Embed]

then changed the driver to M33 and out of nowhere I was able to only boot a single game

I think the issue here is that my memstick is already corrupted and dirty. Even tried using microsd to memstick adaptor but it seems that the sd card is also dirty (had to fsck the card on windows after trying to copy some games and the games don't even fucking appear at all)

PSP still had it's warranty sticker, never been opened (in fact I was the first one to open it. button flex are all original too).

Is this a hardware issue or it's just that my memstick cards are shitty?

I also plan on doing this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-6eEBsUVc0

Google hasn't helped. I've searched and tried a lot of shit to try to fix this but every random interval of time maybe 10 minutes or 20 minutes or so my keyboard will ignore the first key i press when I go to type into something, be it a browser, irc, discord. Its really fucking annoying. I'm running arch linux with i3wm. pls halp its driving me crazy. shit works fine in windows 10.

Been watching for an ultrawide for awhile. While ultrawides in general lag behind true 4k in the resolution department this deal popped up and I want to know if /g/ approves before I jump on it.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MTIZQQM/

This one is selling for $860 and the other sellers have it priced at over $1700.

At that price I can actually get a 1080TI to run the thing properly and still come out ahead.

Too good to be true? Can amazon fuck me over if it is a pricing error?

fuck fuck fuck i think my laptop GPU just fried. I was working on laptop and then suddenly monitor went black screen (still backlit could be seen). Fans was still spinning, Leds was showing. But OS was not responsive anymore I tried to press Power Button for a sec to initialize sleep but it didn't work so I forcefully shutted it down by holding power button. Then, Removed the cable, battery pressed for a minute the power button to discharge, plugged the cable again, tries to turn on and nothing, screen is not even turning on now, fully black. Fans are spinning and one LED is showing which indicates that laptop is turned on. Tried few times this. I even removed ssd in hopes it will turn on.
tl;dr Is my laptop gpu fried or something else? When turning on screen is fully black(no backlit), but fans are spinning.

So I have had a Debian VPS for a while now and it's great for hosting my site. I've now decided to host a second site and for some reason it's being a pain in the ass. It's running Apache 2.4 I think, not using (httpd.conf). I'm getting all sorts of name resolution errors but if I go directly to the IP address of my VPS then it shows the second site. My original site works, just the additional site isn't resolving and I'm kind of stumped.

>>
>>62424143
Say hello to no warranty!
you want to only scrub the windows PARTITION - not the drive.
Then use the windows recovery bullshit to reinstall (unless the laptop is actual fucked and you can't boot)

DO NOT SCRUB THE ENTIRE DISK.
>>
>>62423955
Shit, it works for me now, but the area where i can grab the selection is kinda wonky, gotta center the cursor pretty well
>>
>>62424177
What about my other data partitions? Just do them individually I assume?

Also they wanted me to sign a document regarding authorization to access the OS, so I explicitly signed my denial of authorization. Meaning if they want to boot into the PC, they'll have no choice but to reinstall the OS first.
Should I still reinstall windows myself?

If it's too much of a hassle I'll just leave it be, hoping they won't run data recovery tools on my shit for whatever reason. It's a dodgy CPU fan causing the problem, so they really shouldn't need to mess with the OS much. Of course that assumes that they'll do their job properly, but this is ASUS so I don't think theres a huge risk.

The EFI partition, MS Recovery and the smaller MS Reserved partitions need to stay unformatted.
Whatever would nominally be C:\ and any other user ata partitions should be formatted to remove your data.

Once you format your partitions, boot from the recovery partitionto reinstall windows to the standard image that came with your laptop.

This is all to prevent whomever is doing the RMA pinning whatever issue you have on not using the default windows install (this happens quite a lot)

Okay so according to Apple, A11 has a 3 core GPU. How does such a GPU achieve an advantage over any other CPU? From my rudimentary understanding, a GPU achieves the huge advantage in graphics tasks due to parallelism, which is achieved through having tons of cores working together at the same time. So how does the A11 GPU achieve this with only 3 cores?
>>
>>62424839
'Cores' anon 'Cores'
Technically a FuryX/Vega64 is a 64 core GPU, but it depends on your dfinition of a 'core' when dealing with a GPU.
If a 'shader' is core, then Vega64 has 4096 cores.
If a Compute Unit is a core, then you have 64 cores, each with 64 bipelines.
>>
>>62424912
okay so each of those three cores are clusters of x amount of shader cores? well that answers the question, thanks

my windows 10 ltsb enterprise edition 90 day trial ran out a few hours ago, and since that exact moment my pc shuts down randomly, i havent timed it but its once every hour or so.

windows gives me no heads up, just shuts every program and shuts down (not reboot)

is there a way to stop this shit without buying a key? I have seen people on here numerous times say that you can run windows 10 without activating it indefinitely and only suffer the consequence of the watermark in pic related

tried google already, only thing i can find is that allegedly this is windows trying to activate itself of something like that

Without looking up any specifics, I can tell you that increasing your core count is almost always the worst way to improve gaming performance, especially beyond 4. Single core performance is by far the most important stat. Also gaming can be pretty hard on dual card setups these days. You might actually get better performance on a 1050ti on a lot of games, but if you're happy there then don't worry about it.

And yet 90% of the internet's content is still paid for that way. I'm all for shelling out on patrion etc for shit, but we're just not getting enough people on those types of platforms yet. At this point ad revenue is still make or break for loads of sites/content creators.

Its the same thing as the voter's dilemma. Nobody as an individual has a reason to vote, but collectively it makes a huge difference. You can argue that nobody has any reason to do anything with the greater good in mind. To annons original point, supporting a developer is a reason to unblock unobtrusive ads if they don't bother you, at least until that completely collapses as an earning medium. If you'd rather pay up front, knock yourself out.

Not visible ones. It's mostly about the shielding and wire quality. Ideally everything you have would be a minimum of 5e.
>>
>>62429287
Well that's not a hard thing to search for. Keep in mind that the spec battery life is a best case scenario and will tend to degrade over time. You might look for something that charges over USB C so you don't have to carry a bulky charger. Also that's not a lot of space so it'll be more of an internet machine. You might look into a chromebook or a lightweight linux distro that uses minimal resources like peppermint.

You may catch something, but it's not a way to thoroughly prove that there are no errors on the disk. SSDs give the OS an abstraction of where data is actually stored, so a tool designed for disk drives would not be able to test every sector

Exactly. You have zero confirmation it was designed with SSDs in mind. You don't have to "reliably test" them. You don't even have to test every physical sector. Just test LBAs that controlled throws you and be done with it.

I'm not really interested in continuing this, and I think annon's long gone. A tool that isn't built to accommodate SSDs will be inherently limited in what it can do. Simple as that. If you want to go beyond s.m.a.r.t., there are a lot of options. I will say that flash memory is some funky shit, and a manufacturer has better low level access than anyone else does. If they take advantage of that, they are in the best position to create effective diagnostic software.

Badblocks can tell you that the file storage device is reliable or not. Call it limited if you want.

I am asking it again. Please show me one, just one.
> I will say that flash memory is some funky shit, and a manufacturer has better low level access than anyone else does.
Probably.
>If they take advantage of that, they are in the best position to create effective diagnostic software.
Yes of course but have you read that paper some university or something tested ATA Secure erase implementation of some storage devices and found out only a few have correct implementation. So manufacturers are retarded, you are on your own and the best tool you have is badblocks.

Yeah dude, you're good. You could throw mint or kubuntu on there and not have any problems. I'd always at least consider throwing in a cheap SSD though, especially if you don't plan on needing a lot of space. That shit's nice.

is there a calculator or somewhere I can find the math to figure out what clockspeeds are ideal for ram? specifically ddr4.
For example, i have a 3200mhz kit cas 16. if i know all of the optimal timings from the xmp for 3200, and i want to run at like 3066 with lower latency, how would I figure that out for all the timings?
or alternatively, if i wanted loser timings and faster frequency, say 3466mhz, how would i figure how much to loosen each timing?

Quick recommendation for remote access program. The person I want to help has very little savvy. I've used teamviewer in the past but would rather avoid it. I now see that vnc has an option that will let the user get by without forwarding any ports .. Any thoughts?

Programming seems dead so im looking Database or System Administration.

Any suggestions? or should I go to /adv/?

Programming, and a lot of jobs that don't require face to face interaction, [anything that can be done remotely] has been shipped overseas for ha'pennies on the dollar, trying to turn our postww2 economy and job market back into serfdom.
Unironically get a government job, change the system with all the knowledge you have as much as you possibly can, so the world, or at least your town, isn't under the heel of the upper 1%.
Or maybe the military.

Why doesn't my borderless fullscreen games get locked to 60FPS on my 144Hz monitor when I have another monitor connected to my computer that is only 60Hz? I must use exclusive fullscreen to get 144FPS which sucks dick because it takes 5 seconds to alt+tab

There is any chance that a ~$500 laptop could be capable of running recent games(maybe not the super most recent) in a semi decent way?

It's all relative. Mobile GPUs are not a fertile field at that price range. You can spend more, get a desktop, or learn to live with what you can squeeze out of integrated.

You could go for a last gen GPU

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=970m&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR12.TRC2.A0.H0.X960m.TRS0&_nkw=960m&_sacat=0

But last gen is majorly gimped compared to current, and last gen mobile cards are even MORE gimped. It's a pretty big power waste for that little performance, but it's something.

Dude, I get what you're saying, but there's "needing help with something I can't understand" and then there's refusing to absorb anything when it's spoonfed. That first link tells you what happens when you try and run games on current integrated graphics. It has a pretty little graph of all of their framerates. That is as direct of an answer as anyone can give.

You didn't specify you wanted brand spanking new. That's not the norm on here at all.

Lets try it this way. First result on google for "best gaming laptop under 500"

https://laptop.ninja/finding-the-best-gaming-laptops-under-500-dollars/

Click on "view framerates"

Check that your ram is in properly (just take it out, and put it back in).

A ded GPU is highly unlikely unless your model has a well- known issue.

Take it apart further and check for water damage.
Just because YOU haven't spilt anything on it doesn't mean freinds/ previous owner hasn't.

Last, try hirens boot CD. it's a live mini xp tool kit. you can check your RAM SSD (unlikely but might be worth checking).
