Oh i see. Honestly i consider the only reason for this is simply because it's an opt-in instead of an opt-out and because windows is tech at schools to people from a young age. I've recommended and installed ubuntu to friends who barely knows how to use a computer and they're currently happy with much less technical help compared windows, it makes my life easier because i'm often the person that helps them and fixing things on windows is usually painful.

Honestly i don't think the OS of choice makes you more intelligent if you consider most user-oriented distros are very easy to use, the only difference is that for increasing windows' market share on the desktop a person only needs to buy a computer but for increasin the market share for linux you need the person to know that linux exists and to be willing to install and try something new. That by alone is a big entry barrier.

Eventually the empire succumbs to internal (the structure is so weak on the inside) or external pressure (the whole is too weak to resist something strong) - not much different from a rotted tree - and collapses.
