If the upgraded version doesn't appear fully dark (like the tab bar), the Adaptive UI theme that ships with it should make it fully dark like this

>>62408188
vscode is shit tho, it can't do anything and is barely more functional than notepad. Can't even properly control the keybindings to do exactly what you want.

>>62408193
Yeah it's a shame they don't have that, but as a GUI text editor then sublime text is the best.

>>62408685
>>62408818

vscode is not even particularly good and can't even do 10% of what Sublimetext can. Even just sublimetexts capabilities to intelligently select text and edit several places at once is much better than vscode where you can only do it if the text you are editing is right on top of eachother.

>vscode is not even particularly good and can't even do 10% of what Sublimetext can.
I think you have that backwards. sublime plugins almost always are less polished and have less features than the corresponding vscode extensions
>>
>>62411409
the only thing I care about is basic vim support, basic multi cursor and typescript/js support

vscode has best typescript/js support by far. maybe only IDE's like intellij webstorm have better support now.

also, vscode looks fucking better and yu can customize it since its a fucking browser
>>
>>62409614

Guess i wont be updating then.
>>
>>62411484
use a keybinding to select several places at the same time in the document using a regular expression. And then editing all of them at once.

Saves tons of time.

>>62411501
vscode can't do shit tho... Even with extensions.

>>62411505
well that is all what vscode has... BASIC multi cursor support. while extending that support is super useful.

what does that even mean? I'm doing electron development with it 8 hours a day. the typescript support is amazing. I also have a good python setup for writing utility scripts with linter integration, code completion, debugging and shit. sublime text has worse support for both
>>
>>62411557

I also tried C# and Java. vscode is better with those as well, but I don't use that because I use intellij for Java and I don't do any C# really

Need some advice:

I'm new to webdev. Getting pretty confident with HTML and CSS, but have yet to move into JS.

Is sublime a pretty good text editor? It's what I use, and I like it well enough.
>>
honest to god, i consider paying for a license every time sublime text comes up with an update. then i go look at the release history and i realize there's no way in fucking hell i'm paying for software that gets updated this infrequently.
>>
>>62419010
Honestly what's the point of your question? You're happy enough with it and it's obvious that others get by well enough using it.

Also, this thread has self-selection bias. The people who see your question are going to be ST3 users. In what scenario do you think any of us would steer you away from ST3?

Are you just looking for us to pat you on the back?
>>
>>62413191
What are you using to convert that to .gif
>>
>>62419063
I just know so little about all of this, so I'm asking. I don't know if ST3 is considered shit because it's missing key features or anything. Or if it's any good for actually programming JS.

That's all.

>>
>>62419154
>I didn't think this thread was explicitly for ST3 users
How much clearer could it be? The subject is "Sublime Text 3" and the OP image is the ST3 logo. The OP post says to discuss that Sublime Text 3 is out of beta.

What part of the OP post made you think this was about other editors?

So? Development on Sublime is fucking glacial. VS Code is far better. My coworkers who use Sublime but have seen me using VS Code during discussions have all started to switch or at least download it to evaluate.

It's pretty much the one thing MS does that is legitimately great. And completely open source, unlike Sublime. And, you know, free. With no nagging or "borrowed" licenses.
