There is no consistency between icon style or size, the text is different for each.
A lot of them can crash and when they do, you crash the desktop.
I often get these invisible widgets I can move around, but not view anywhere and no way to find out what they are called or why they exist.
They never think of what the widget should be for.

A good example is the battery widget.
1. you have to enable "show percentage" in order to view the percentage.
2. when you do, it is tiny compared to the font of the clock or the font of the application list.
3. it took them more than a year to implement this crucial feature. I mean how the fuck can you live with yourself when you make a battery widget that doesn't show the capacity of the battery?

The calendar widget doesn't offer a way to get to the calendar, it isn't good at displaying long entries even though there is space and the backend doesn't support exchange calendars.

Why are KDE applications (Plasma not included) so shit? I'm talking about shit like KMail, Akonadi, Baloo, Konqueror, KTorrent, etc. It's all just shit?

I don't get it. KDE's philosophy seems so much better than the Red Hat cancer, and I agree that Plasma is great, but everything else seems like shit. I always end up using real software written by third parties, and they always use GTK, which then forces me on to Gnome because they look like shit on Plasma.

Some apps like Dolphin, Kate, Krita are pretty nice. I also heard good things about QupZilla which is apparentely a KDE project now.
Also there is some great third party software written in Qt such as qBittorrent, and GTK apps really don't look that bad on Plasma with the right theme.

They have an extra grey border, and especially grey in the corners where they're squared off instead of being rounded like everything else. The scrollbars are different too.
