how many hundreds/thousands of $ has /g/ conned you into wasting?
>>
I managed to convice my boss to buy us all maxed out P70's with the whole "superior chinkpad design" skit
About 50 of them total, so a couple hundred grand on thinkpads.
>>
>>62396852
0, I would never take anything posted here at face value, because I'm not retarded.
>>
>>62396852
0$
I literally have not bought a single /g/-related thing since I started browsing 7 years ago
calle calle
>>
>>62396852
a few hundred buying old thinkpads before I realized they're all clunky garbage
>>
Anything above $0 and you deserve it.
>>
grados headphones - were a present from ex-gf cost her 60

thinkpad t400 - 40 including shipping

in ear headphones - 20
>>
almost baited me into buying a thinkpad although I had no use for it. Glad I didnt fell for that meme
>>
>>62397087
you're supposed to write "cali cali" to fuck with the google ai
>>
I literally wasted 50 dollars buying programming socks. I rarely use them.
>>
>>62396852

i don't have a job and even if i did i'd probably use the money on other shit, consumer tech is garbage
>>
>>62397177
>literally
checks out
>>
>>62397160
I don't bother deliberately fucking with it, but like 70% of the time I get some letters wrong because you only have to be in the ballpark

None. I don't take purchasing advice from /g/.
>>
>>62396852
/g/ should be saving/making you money. Not costing you money.
>>
>>62397232
/g/ does teach you to buy the best price/performance in the long run but the initial phase is a lot of extra consumerism by introducing you to phones, keyboards, mice, cases, GPUs etc.

/g/ helped me save a shitton of money by becoming a stallmanist script kiddie that takes pride in ripping shit from kikes that put things behind paywalls

if it can be digitized then I am entitled to copy it for free, very comfy mindset
>>
>>62397306
>stallmanist
I think you missed the point of /g/. they're libretards not freetards
>>

>>
>>62397352
/g/ cares both about free as in freedom and free as in free beer.
>>
>>62396852
Conned? Not sure that is the correct term, but I went to Ikea and picked up two Lack tables a few years ago. Still use them, so I guess $74.
>>
love my TKL mech kb
love my X220
love my moto /g/ 2015 until the screen started falling off. It still works though and runs LineageOS very well, I use as a bedside dedicated podcast and music streaming device
I also buy stuff that isn't a /g/ meme just depends what it is and what my needs are. you should definitely do your own research in any case, never listen to one place especially a memelord echo chamber like /g/
>>
>>62397136
my exgf bought me my audio technica headphones. huzzah for girlfriends who buy you shit you actually use.
>>
>>62397446
To be fair the only libre part /g/ cares about is freedom 1 so that other neckbeards are able to inspect the code of the programs they're running. They don't really care about freedom 2 or 3.
>>
maybe like $200 on a memechanical keybaord
>>
>>62396852
I put about 3k into my computers
Probably wasted about a grand but oh well
>>
>>62396852
0eurodollar.
Propaganda does not work on me.
>>
i spent 40$ on headphones
money well spent though so not really conned just influenced
>>
/g/ kind of convinced me to spend less though. I probably would have dumped my wallet to buy a shiny new video card, but I realized how little I need it.
>>
>>62397177

Thats why you aren't a top programmer anon.
Also show legs.

I have a T430 and I can't stand the horrible screen. I thought the 900p would be better but old laptop has better color and brightness at 720p. Battery, keyboard, and build are great but I can't justify the eye strain.
>>
None. I don't have down syndrome.
>>
>>62397404
That image is the pinacle of comedy
>>
>>62396852
don't buy anything unless you absolutely need it
>>
>>62396852

Here is a fun exercise:

1) How many hours per day you are on /g/?
2) How long you are on /g/?
3) Calculate how many hours you approximately have spent on /g/.
4) Calculate how much money you could have made, when a regular job would give you 15 dollar per hour.
>>
>>62397160

With a lot of chink stuff, let's say 1800€, but I stared actually buying stuff like two or three years ago, I had to save money some time back so I couldn't actually buy nothing that wasn't chink shit.

About 5k if I can attribute most purchases here. I found out about building a PC here In 2007 and have since gone through four personal systems. I got memed into the ath m50 in 2009, then the dt990, and now I'm about to buy a m1060, hd600, and msr7.
I'm grateful, my whole life is computers. I probably wouldn't have even pursued computer science without this place. And I love software development it really plays on my strengths and minimizes my shortcomings. C++ class is my favorite part of the week.
I'm 25 if that puts the time line in better perspective.
>>
>>62406110
>$150

Anon, I...
>>
>>62406246
I understand what you're trying to imply, but even a 1 penny purchase, if it's not a loss and brings the smallest of the profits, is still considered a good investment. Economy 101.

Unless you were trolled in which case it makes perfect sense.

Moto G (1st gen) was probably the best deal /g/ ever made me aware of
still using it daily, running the latest LineageOS
I'm not a filthy phoneposter so 1 GiB of RAM is sufficient

Desu fampai, cargo pants are pretty fucking useful, but as I settled into a comfy 9-5 life without any extraneous activities, I've had to carry around less shit, so regular jeans are good enough for me.

I bought a MDR-V6 in 2012, after my 4th Koss sb-45 broke. And I fucking love it, bought another as a backup, first one still is flawless except the plastic bullshit on the pads have fallen off which is an upgrade to be honest.

I also bought a IBM Model M 1986 to test out the mechanical meme, but that shit is too fucking big and noisy for me. Traded it for a gpu with a friend.

Microsoft Keyboard 500 for lyfe. Had since 2005 and cost me $10 back then, won't waste another penny on keyboards.
>>
300.
>>
around $1000
>>
I spent $200 on an X230 with nice specs to bring when I leave home for a year. It's not a huge loss if damaged or stolen, though neither of those things are a concern because I can repair it cheaply myself and thieves are looking for Macbooks, not archaic business laptops.

I did fall for the Raspberry Pi 2. I've done nothing with it.
>>
$0 I had a desktop already and Gentoo is free
>>
$700 dollar monitor speakers. They sound like shit for most music and they're ugly.

They're collecting dust in a closet and I'm using $100 dollar Logitech speakers I got off Amazon instead - which sound MUCH better for music that is non-autismal.
>>
>>62396852

I have bought a Thinkpad and a Moto G following advice here on /g/. I am pleased with both of them.
>>
>>62396852
I made several thousand dollars on Etherium from when it was shilled in February. Otherwise I don't take /g/ advise too often, and I can't remember buying anything on a /g/ recommendation that I didn't enjoy.
