The easy, good solution is to use a metasearch engine, such as SearX, or just make your own script to search several engines at once. If you care about privacy, just route it through TOR (which is easier than it sounds).

It's mostly privacy, but I also want to stop doing anything to support them, so while I could do Tor routing, it still gives Google traffic.

you can try startpage, which basically serves as a proxy for google. But then you have to suffer loading times that are at least twice as long and you still wont get the same quality results like with google itself. Because apparently, google is actively trying to fuck over meta search engine (see pic related).

Basically, there is no alternative that is as good as Googles search engine.
