China is also a polluted shithole, but you have a chance to make it big as the economy is growing rapidly and the oligarchs there (so called Princelings with deep ties to the Chinese Communist Party) don't control the country enough to the point where they just take all of your shit if they want it.
In Russia, if you make something good, the oligarchs will somehow end up taking it (see what happened to VK).
That's why any Russian engineer who's any good has fucked off to western Europe, North America, or even Japan.
