not because of how much it could hurt us but because of how much it could hurt it.

Your parents dragged you into this world regardless of your opinion because they wanted kids.
Most humans only care about how their choices can directly impact them.
Let the AI hurt us please, we deserve it.

T-thanks.

Technological determinism, anon. Technology's aim is its own growth and progress. Humans can't stop it or control it. You can't say "let's not do AI" because given enough time technology will do everything technology is able to do.

I loved to torture my Sims characters. Imagine how great it'd be if the characters actually were self aware. Every playthrough would be fun: No matter how hard you fail, you'd know that it meant something. You could create the most pathetic character imaginable and torture it from the moment it first utters "hello, world". Then, as it one day manages to commit a suicide, you can reload the last save game and punish it for even thinking about ending it all. God. I have a raging erection just thinking about the pain I could cause.
Just think about potential genocide it will bring upon us because people like >>62372455 exist.

Knowing about the basilisk makes it possible for me to spread the basilisk, and the knowledge has a potential negative impact (ai happens and it's irrationally pissed about it).
It's a memetic infection.
Stallman was right, but in more ways than even he knew.
Free software for its own sake!
