Unless you use Windows. No you can't.

How about those professional applications? Wine does not count, Windows can do Linux also with wrappers. Not that they run well in Wine in the first place for actual work.
How about those new modern games? Oh wait, shitty DirectX in Wine and extremely small support from devs so no again.

You clearly misunderstood his phrasing.

He means that stallman isnt a computer scientist.
He's a philosopher, and foss advocate.
His power is of speech and law.

Linus is our Engineer, Stallman is our socialite.
You saying that he lacks technical skill doesn't disprove the fact that without his guidance and proposition of the GPL for all of these years we would of been lost to monopolies and proprietary software.

It's objective truth. Please don't tell me you're one of those autists who think arch is actually minimal.

All chunked out packages like -common and -data are merges into one.
All documentation and header files are included in the package as well, bloating file size again.
All packages are built with all compile flags turned on, boosting up memory usage and forming extra unnecessary dependencies that drag in even more of these bloated packages that you didn't want.

The *only* thing arch has going for it is the AUR. It's pretty frickin' neato. But that doesn't make up for the distro hosting it being hot trash.

It _is_ easy. There used to a simple directory you plopped programs into, /opt I believe. Look into Slackware system management to see how it should be done. They make it easy.

What becomes hard is the dependency pit you can get into when trying to build software from scratch. There was a time when I only compiled my desired software on Debian. It got pretty bad towards the end, but systemd caused me to leave Linux entirely.
