Will a Threadripper x399 motherboard fit fine inside a Fractal Define R5 case or would I need a Full tower?
The reason why I'm asking is because the z97-a motherboard I currently have in my case just fits inside the define r5 case. Threadripper motherboards has a much larger socket, 8 RAM slots many PCIE lanes, it must be bigger, if it is then it can't fit

if I'm not mistaken the only E-ATX x399 board is the anus zenith, the rest are standard ATX

X399-A Prime whatever is also E-ATX.

Though I heard somewhere that the ATX board have trouble fitting inside the R5 since it blocks some of the cable holes

If both the current board and the target threadripper board are ATX then yes it will fit.

It'll fit just fine, but it'll block the cable management grommets, so you'll have to run the cables around the side of the motherboard tray instead. Not really an issue. I have an EATX board in my Define R4 right now.

Actually, looking at it, you can ignore me. They've changed the design of the inside of the R5 so that there's a raised section where the grommets are. So no, it wouldn't fit. What a dumb decision.
All current x399 boards will fit except for the ones from Asus. Atx works in the r5, e-atx will not

damn, well I'll get myself a new case then, Corsair 800d looks like a beast case. Does it contain a dust filter like the r5?

it's standard ATX, it won't cover any holes
