Look up if it's been done before, the stems will likely be different between the non-handwinding 7s26 and the 4r/6r movements.

I don't own an SKX so I don't know how the crown is attached to the stem, is it just a simple, common tap 9 thread?

They're using an eta 2824, anti-magnetic cage, BWG9 lume, sapphire bezel, made it 300m (therefore THICCer). Those are all the differences, besides the case shape, I can think of between it and their old watches.

Still wish it wasn't so big though. Obris pls make a <=40mm version of the explorer II.

what's your opinion of Steinhart watches?

Phatkat Collections
I checked them out online sir. Im sure they make a fine product but they are like 380 euros at minimum. For what your getting Id rather a grand diver auto with the seiko nh35 for 120 bucks. I just dont see the value in spending that on a watch that frankly looks like every other watch. ya know?

No I already met my watch quota for this month, I still can't believe I spent $550 on a watch let alone a used one. This is by far the most I've ever spent on a watch.

The owner listed it as working but might need servicing, so far using the COSC app it is -2 seconds a day. Took it apart and all of the serial numbers associated with Rolexes are there. Serial also matches this model and time. Sadly no box which was why it was somewhat cheap.

If I knew OM was going to come out with a new watch I would have waited. I was hoping to replace my SKX with an Explorer. Fortunately this watch gets plenty of compliments, compared to my SKX.

Correct but it isn't a diver and it doesn't say 300m water resistance on the dial does it? OM is both those and then not covered to be put under water, may as well not have any water resistance. then i received the email about the Infinity a few days ago and i happened to be up this morning and i rememebred they were going on sale, so i gave it a shot and i got one.
to be honest, i more or less forgot why i even wanted one of these. i can't say i have buyer's remorse, but i do have mixed feelings about making the purchase.

No, typically the end-links on a bracelet have to be specifically designed to match up with the lugs on a specific model of watch.

Fortunately for you, StrapCode has multiple bracelets designed specifically to fit the Alpinist. Just google them and search Alpinist on their site.

>I've wanted a Rolex for a very long time, but could never justify spending the money. Whenever I buy watches I typically opt for Ebay if I'm looking for something vintage or Amazon and Jomashop if I'm going to buy something new because brick and mortar stores just can't beat online prices. I was reluctantly taken to the mall with my girlfriend a few weeks ago and spent the entire time in a small watch shop while she was shopping at Nordstrom. I like to window shop watches I can't afford (because who doesn't) so naturally I was checking out all the Rolexes at the store. I asked the salesperson what the story was with this watch because it looked brand new, but had a lot of vintage features like the raised plexi-glass over the dial and the off-white date wheel. He told me it was a 1972 they got at an estate auction and even though it's in mint condition, they were having trouble selling it because of the 34 mm dial. Lucky for me I have relatively small wrists and after some negotiating and a great conversation about vintage watches, here I am with my new-to-me Rolex Oysterdate ref 6694 from 1972 with an awesome 1225 calibre movement.

I guess if you want two-tone you should look at Datejusts, there's tons of them floating around used and two-tone is a pretty dated style so the prices can be pretty reasonable. I'm not sure why you think a Rolex has to be gold though, there's nothing wrong with gold Rolexes but you know the whole reason they became so well-known was by making durable waterproof steel sports watches, right?

Not long ago, i posted a picture of the srp777 on my wrist. At first I thought it was alright, but from the feedback and comments I got from you guys I realized that it really was too big for my wrist.

Thus I went for plan B, the SKX007. Trying it on, I was sure this had to be the one. The size, the shape, and the beautiful looks of this watch. However, I really didn't like the original rubber strap it came with (not even on the level of the rubber strap on the srp777), so I picked up a cheap nato strap!

It's been the first day and I love it. Throughout the day, I can stop myself from checking out my watch and tinkering with it.

As a first automatic, I think I made a very good (and inexpensive) choice.

In addition, my dad is also into watches, and when we went to the shop, I showed him the SRP777 and he absolutely loves the shape. Because the price for theSRP777 was also very affordable, he decided to get one himself! Now we both have a somewhat matching everyday watch!

Thank you guys for the amazing feedback and recommendations :) I absolutely adore watches and will be looking for more sometime in the future. For now, as a student, the skx will remain my daily driver.

Yeah the fact that it has the same movement as a $55 SNK 809 is fucking robbery. It's not like the case costs $175 to make, and those Slav proved that you can still have a 200m rated diver with a stainless case and hand winding for under $80; yeah the movement is still pretty shitty but so is the 7S26.
The SKX should cost like $150 AT MOST.

Favorite motoring watches?
>>
>>62363153

There is a company that does it, an anon who has posted here before got an SKX from them with a 4r36 or NH36. Basically you paid like $100 over the price of an SKX and it would be like $30 for the movement and $70 for the install if you break it down which is an excellent deal. If you own an SKX already it isn't so clear how good the deal is.

Otherwise I think the big hang up is the crown on the 7s26 doesn't match up with the 4r36/Case. The SARB crown's apparently do. but I would wonder about waterproofing etc.
>>
>>62373947
Seiko individually pressure tests every SKX to ensure it meets ISO 6245. The SKX is the cheapest ISO certified dive watch on the market, and the second cheapest, third cheapest and fourth cheapest ISO certified dive watches are also Seikos.

It's mostly the individual pressure testing of the cases that sets a floor on how much they can charge for their ISO certified dive watches.
>>
>>62374470
Actually mine has an NE15/6R15, a flat sapphire crystal, and a StrapCode super oyster II, and I paid more than $100 over a normal SKX price for it, though I did purchase it (minus the bracelet) from Artifice Horoworks.

I paid for all the upgrades because the SKX is one of the very few dive watches I like aesthetically, so I'd rather have spent the money on upgrades than bought any of the divers I could have otherwise gotten for less than $1000.

>>
>>62374610
Orient, Citizen. Orient has their movements made in-house in Japan which is a plan, rather than the Malaysian-made Seiko ones at that price. Citizen is pretty much the king of sub-200 dollar quartz and solar watches along with Casio, and they make some good automatics because they own Miyota.

>>

Citizen is no more of a shitter brand than Seiko or Casio. I've found that their offerings tend to be uglier/toolier than those of their competitors, especially their automatics, but that's a subjective thing.
>>
>>62373902

>>
>>62374542

I see now, couldn't remember the website. So it's like $160 more than a stock SKX if you just do the movement. To the other guy- it looks like they are going to start selling the crown to fit soon as there is a pre order up. For those prices it may be worth trying to do yourself.

Real shit though, ISO ratings don't mean jack and this has already been beaten to death in previous threads. Yeah, they're a good standard and are trustworthy, but just because a diver isn't ISO rated doesn't mean that it can't go to the advertised depth (or more, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-YKyDkpXbc). This isn't like phones or cameras where an ISO rating is pretty much required if you're going to advertise any form of weather sealing.

Fair point. I should have specified mechanical ISO certified dive watches. Last I heard Citizen discontinued their entry level mechanical ISO divers. They were Miyota 82xx powered, in any case, and also didn't hack.

That still leaves Seiko making several 4R36 powered ISO certified diver models for less than anyone else makes an ISO certified mechanical dive watch with hacking and handwinding. Keep in mind that that ISO certification doesn't just give a set of design criteria to adhere to. It also means that the watches are individually pressure tested which is a significant time, equipment and labour expense on entry-level mass produced watches.

Just ironically bought a bagelsport, how long will it last before I need to throw it away or give it to my nephew? I also have non shitter watches but the idea was to buy this for fun and if I like it I'll buy the original when the chink one breaks.

He's one of those guys who makes response videos to "haters" going over point by point how they're complete idiots. And he collects Invicta, so yeah, definitely mental problems.

I wonder if I'll get the honor of being roasted by him in a video. Also the cuck seems to be a repfag too.

You say that as if Chinese knockoffs have any standards or quality control. Imagine they're cutting gears out of a steel sheet. On that one sheet of steel there may be a spot that's already rusting, another spot is 90% zinc, and another spot is 90% nickle. They may have cut 100 gears from that shitty sheet metal, and they're all completely different in terms of strength. No telling if you got a good part that will last for years or a bad part that will last a week.

I'd just like the add that I'm the guy who made those A. Wyatt Mann edits making fun of Seiko and get accused of being a resident shitposter all the time, and none of the people you've been replying to is me.

Although I don't particularly dislike Seiko (I just find them boring), the reason I made them is precisely because you people are so hypersensitive to criticism of your pet weeb shit that you go into asspained rage at the slightest provocation and start accusing people who (like me) picked up on this of all samefagging.

Just relax and ignore it if someone makes a joke at your expense. You don't see the Rolex people sperging out every time someone goes "hurr midlife crisis" or something.

The Orient Ray II is probably the best value you can get for a sub $200 mechanical. If digital is fine then the DW5600 is a great choice. The Casio MDV 106 is also a viable choice if quartz analogue is okay with you.
>>

Not everyone who disagrees with you is a singular entity. Hell, I just like making fun of the SKX because it's an objectively boring and overpriced watch bought by people like >>62368923, and it has legions of rabid fanboys like yourself who embarrass themselves in their apologia of it.

>>
>>62391769
I went from a fucking Merc to a Lexus GS, and you can tell the difference in driving experience. My old E-Class handles the curves a lot better, it is faster off the line but doesn't feel jump it lurches. Although the Lexus as more technically advance on the inside the Merc feels more luxurious. I honestly couldn't handle the repair costs which was why I traded it in, I still owe like $10k on it since it was almost brand new at 4 years old, but the warranty on it sucked dick.

Lexus' are made for people who don't give a fuck about driving dynamics, they are meant to be as coddling as possible, whereas modern Mercs have tried to strike a balance between sporty driving dynamics and luxury to try and reclaim market share from BMW. It's been quite successful too, as BMW now makes ugly cars with mediocre dynamic qualities.

Every Lexus I have been in is boring as fuck. My friend's father had a 7series and we took it to Atlantic City once becuase his car had a flat, shit was like sitting on your sofa at 90 on the highway. Handled the curves like a dream. I see they are getting back to their roots with stuff like the M240i. I may pick one up next year.

Not much to say. The 1861 is a low beat, non-hacking, horizontal clutch, cam actuated chronograph movement. It's only two redeeming features are being manual wound and not having been totally ruined and/or discontinued by The Swatch Group.

Oh and they are called WRISTwatches rather than HANDwatches for a reason.
