Did yo feel for the 8TB meme?

Not one of those archive drives, so it is not that bad speed wise as far as spinning rust goes.

>WD - My Book 8TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive
anon what are you doing
not 8tb but have a 6tb wd black - decent enough 5 year warranty, would rather wait for the higher platter/density drives to mature a little
>>
You're better off with 8 1TB drives than 1 8TB drive.
>>
>>62346457
Are you mentally retarded or just a fucking idiot?
>>
>>62346519
It was cheaper than getting an equal internal drive.

So opened it up and pulled out the drive.
>>
lol wtf are these retards saying, yes getting a 8TB is a good choice, you are using up a 3.5 inch space for 8TB, you're being space efficent as well as causing less heat and noise. If there was a 50TB drive I would get it if it had a good gb/price.
>>
>>62346457
> Not WD GOLD
Its like you dont even care about you data.
>>
>>62347311
You get 8 1TB drives and one brakes you've lost 1tb of data, but 1TB drives have much lower chances of braking cause they're way simpler inside.

You get a 8TB drive and you have a higher chance of malfunctioning, once it brakes you've instantly lost 8TB

Even with the warranty I have sensible datas on my drives, I'd like to be more secure
>>
>>62347488
thats why you backup, the downsides of having 8 1TB hard drives outweights the pros, you are being so inefficent while you have to manage 8 drives in your case, this is considering you have 8 3.5inch slots.
>1TB drives have much lower chances of braking cause they're way simpler inside
Bullshit, no scientific evidence and is known as a myth. Also just because a harddrive that has more mechanics to its software side doesn't mean it has a higher chance of failing.
>>
>>62347488
2 8tb >>>>>> 16 1tb
>>
>>62347577
>8 drives in a case
You don't need 8TB or >>62347587 16TB on a single computer always on unless you're running a server with file sharing for a company or clients. Even if you're doing a job with great request of storage I can assure you that you'll have no use for more than 2TB at time, more than that and we're talking about archival, just think of a scalable way to order your shit. At that point even a set of 1TB 2.5" USB drives well organized will do a perfect job, you plug in what you need.

For the chance of failing a lot of researches have been posted several times here and statistic shows that the most secure drives are 3.5" WD HDDs up to 2TB always on at 50°C. 3 to 8 TB drives have higher chance of failing (I remember the worst were 3TB seagate)

Only reason I can think today for a 8TB drive is for a business with need for a lot of storage and a high rate of data production (let's say 8TB every 6 months, doubled for backup). At that point the differece in cost/GB becomes significative enough and having less drives means more organization in the long run.

For the average neet it's a waste

Pretty small minded view of the world kid. I have a stack of 10TB drives for my anime, porn, and videos
>>
>>62347945
>>62347925

Yeah I was talking for people with a life, I have small storage needs for my job and for everything else I download movies and delete after watching, pay for Netflix and fap on a regular browser in incognito
>>
>>62347945
Congratulations, your a data horder, and an exception to the rule.
>>
>>62347970
lol, yea, depending on netflix and constantly hoping your logs accessing porn wont be logged is a real smart way to live. Enjoy the new Marvel and Star Wars movies on Netflix kid.

>>62348003
Data hording is what anyone who isnt brain dead will do these days with the censorship, filtering, and outright criminalizing of some content. Thinking that everything will be accessible forever online is just amazingly ignorant.
>>
>>62348003
Enjoy cuckflix and pornhub, retard

I wasn't trying to impress anyone, notice the accent on "Chinese dock", that's ghetto rigging

Should of posted that in the battlestation thread, so you could be properly belittled for being a fucking slob.

Isn't HDD supposed to be horizontal to work fine? Isn't vertical position impedes heads engines?
