Quick question, would pic related work? As in, do Cat5e ethernet cables work fine when plugged into a RJ45 Cat6 plug ran across Cat6 cables?
Yes. They will just run at cat5e speeds

Thank you anon

It has the same 8 cable, cat6 just twisted more and different ways.
If the cat5 is short and the cat6 is long you won't even have speed reduction
Short:1-2m

Yeah, I am going to be using the Cat6 for house wiring and plugs and then I just have some Cat5e Ethernet cables laying around and was just wondering if I could use them from the router and to the PC. Thanks anon.

physically, they are interchangeable. If the ports are 1Gbps or slower and relatively short (less than 25') you won't see any difference at all.

>Not using Cat7 for everything.

I'm Australian, what's the point
>>62344498
>paying 5 times more for a cable
>while half of the devices are still limited at 100mbit and others at 1Gbit.
>>62344859
lawd, that feel..
> muh "100Mb/s" NBN
>>62344875
I'm currently on 9Mbps on ADSL2+ and Wireless """NBN""" isn't due for another 2 years. God help me.
Anon, please don't listen to these other anons. Doing this will fuck up your network worse than deleting system32 will fuck up your computer.

Chances are that unless it's ultra shitty cat5e cable, it'll run full 1Gbit. Cat6 is just a rating, there's nothing in the cable for the ethernet port to distinguish between the two.

>I'm Australian
I'm so, so sorry
I got a similar question.
Our place is wired with Cat5e jacks, all of which are connected with a network patch in a closet downstairs.
Would connecting my router to a RJ45 near it allow me to use Ethernet in other rooms?
