TAG Heuer ironically has one of the best spare parts policies, with almost no restrictions on buying stuff from them.

Rolex used to be good but they've closed shitloads of parts accounts and it's harder now to get stuff (but not impossible).

Jaeger-LeCoultre has a decent number of people with parts accounts, too.

How tight should a watch be around your wrist?
>>
>>62344622
It's a matter of preference, but a rule of thumb is that you should still be able to fit your index finger between the strap and your wrist.
>>
>>62344622
Tight enough to stay put, not tight enough to make your wrist look like it's choking.
>>
>>62344465
Modern mid-range mechanical watches are marketed almost exclusively to men, high-end mechanical watches marketed towards women tend to focus on high jewelery rather than haute horology, and watch communities are pretty toxic to women.

This Casio tells a simple message to the watch enthusiasts, it tells that you are well aware that you acquired a 9 dollar watch, made of plastic, that you do not care about their opinions. You stand on your own two feet and you are the boss of your own life. This timepiece is a brave choise and i simply love it!

meh, not really, most watch forums I lurk are pretty welcoming. I'd argue that they're full of bad advice, honestly. I see a lot of people recommending watches for people that are WAY too big, even for /wt/'s ridiculous standard for watches no bigger than 36mm. Agreed wholeheartedly with the community being misogynistic though

google seiko sumo and you'll see a slew of threads with pics and people going "yeah man, looks great"

the point of automatics is to be powered by your movement, if you leave it for a day without winding it properly it will run out of energy
shake it or manual wind before sleep

You can get something from swatch group 80 hour power reserve for relatively cheap.
>>
>>62351349
Bottom left would be alright if the lugs were shorter.
>>
>>62351428
I think all of them need shorter lugs. Or, those numales need bigger wrists.
>>
>>62351427
Avoid those. Swatch got those movements to 80 hours of power reserve by lowering the best rate and making every drivetrain component thinner to reduce the torque necessary to drive it. Those movements have an abnormally high risk of excessive wear and sensitivity to prompt servicing as a result.

Yes, modern non-radioactive lume is charged by light, and good-quality lume should be legible all through the night. Get a Seiko Monster if you want an affordable, bright as fuck watch.

It's funny because the Mk. II was designed by Omega from the ground up to be a space watch. But NASA rejected it because they already had a bunch of MOTFM on stock and didn't want to go through the whole certification process again.

Only time I know of when a non-MOTFM Omega was flown in an Apollo mission is Aleksei Leonov's Flightmaster during the ASTP, but only because he was with the Soviet Union, not NASA.

Could this Anon tell me where you got that insert from? I fucked my pepsi insert up getting a coin bezel on. I thought the glue was soft enough and it wasn't. I may be able to bend it back in place but for now I like what you did.

Basically what >>62360145
said. Your response is a natural wristlet coping mechanism, which is fine. But once you acknowledge that it's too big, you will be able to set your ego aside and wear patriacian 31mm watches such as the Datejust and Calatrava.

Memes aside, unless they are an actually a skeleton, why would anyone go below 34 mm?
>implying people wearing appropriately-sized watches for their wrists only do so because of their ego
That guy's almost-watch is still too big for him, just look at the overhang. No reason to start shopping for women's watches though.

31mm was considered gentleman's size before fashion faggots and niggers got their catering to.

I'm so proud of this board.

so you dont get crown marks when worn on the left arm?
>>
>>62360547
Some people wear their watches on the right hand. In the old days you needed the winder/crown reversed for that.
>>
>>62360440
Maybe in 1934 by Bauhaus cucks. The first wrist watches were significantly larger, and 31 mm is in no way characteristic. You could make a decent case for 36 mm, 35 mm, something in that range, but not 31. Hate on fashion watches all you want, but please also realize that the calatrava was one of the first 'lmao minimalism' watches.
>was considered a gentleman's size
fuck off with your bullshit claims. Maybe if you could find some media from past eras that suggested this was the case it would be believable.
>niggers and faggots
You mean chinks? All you are doing is conflating your personal taste with whatever fantastical interpretations of concepts and groups of people you have formed to feel better about yourself.
>>
>>62360727
34mm-36mm acceptable dress watch range
36mm-38mm acceptable casual/everyday watch range
38mm-40mm acceptable sporty diver/chronograph range. Can go to 42mm as long as it is well proportioned

Fight me about it

Typically niggers wear watches that are too big, if you want to literally interpret what I wrote. Back then watches were a necessity to tell time, so they were made to be unobtrusive, hence the smaller sizes. Now that they're no longer necessary, they're worn as fashion items, so the larger size makes sense as it's more likely to get noticed. If you're wearing watches only for the fashion aspect, then yes, go ahead and wear that manhole cover. Otherwise, I'll enjoy my comfortable and stealthy watch. Here's a picture of a man with taste.

Pretty sure he's saying that the meme of oversized watches started due to the chink market.

Seiko presages are very nice. Personally I like the ones without the subdials or the windows. But if you spend a little bit more you can get a Grand Seiko or a Credor.

A Patek knockoff? Probably worth about $10.

Kinda have to agree with this guy. Just look at Seiko and how the make freakishly huge watches for fucking JAPANESE MANLETS FOR FUCKS SAKE
>>

Taking into account inflation since 1964, that's about $1540 in todays money. Still pretty cheap for an explorer, nonetheless.

Those are fine statements, with the exception of one point. People can go above 42, keeping the caveat that the watch is well-proportioned. I didn't save the pic, but I have seen a guy with wrists that would make a 50 mm watch look good. I wish I saved it, the guy was gigantic. Not even fat, but he was wearing some fashion watch with more than 60 mm lug-to-lug without any overhang. That guy was definitely an outlier, but significant portions of the population can pull off 43 or 45 mm sport watches, for casual settings of course. However, there is no argument that 31 is the optimal dress watch size, or that a watch for any occasion should be 34 mm.
>>
>>62361397
I saw a guy with a 34mm diameter watch I fuckin spit in his eye and told him he was outside of optimum wristwatch diameter

I'd like to buy a leather strap with white stitching without getting jew'd. Where from? Found pic related on Etsy for ~27 EUR + shipping, sounds like too much to me, but I don't know how much these usually go for.
>>
>>62361136
And a house cost $800 then.
>>
>>62361805
The OP has a strap guide.

A genuine leather strap costs anywhere between $30 to $70 depending on the quality. Anything cheaper and you're getting some kind of plastic meant to imitate leather.

Knowing Etsy I bet you can get that same exact strap from AliExpress for a buck. Etsy is all overpriced garbage.
