Qubes is quite good. If you'd rather take a different approach, hardened gentoo running on a coreboot system

All Linux distributions are basically identical with regards to security.

Gentoo with encrypted drives and Hardened Linux kernel

Start with mint or something and poke around the linux world a bit. Then start focusing on your specific tech fetish.

child porn is illegal anon, no distro will keep you from going to jail
Is tails actually nsa botnet?
>Gentoo
The hardened profile adds PIE, stack protectors, etc. to your compiled files
Since most people compile with -fmarch=native and maybe even other flags, the average ROP style attack for Gentoo will only affect a small portion of systems.
There's also SELinux if you want it.
They had GrSec until GrSec stopped publically distributing their kernels
Overall, unless you're running a server, it probably doesn't matter. Use Noscript if you care about security, since the majority of the attacks on your system will be through javascript, assuming you're not dumb enough to still have autoplay flash.
