how much php/python should a linux server administrator know?
>>62314373
if you ask because you want to work as a sysadmin you should have enough motivation for the job to google it by yourself instead of asking others...
>>62314428
not much then, but a whole lot of bash scripting to automate processes, amirite?
>>62314373
PHP not so much unless you're responsible for Web applications.
Python, Perl, bash are your admining friends...
As much as you need.

>tfw to smart for freedom
>>62314608
really all you need is python and ansible.
>>62314373
there is no sysadmin for new systems, all monitoring can be done via adhoc api in the server
>>62314453
you must be one huge retard to want to automate everything in bash.
>>62314608
had a boss that used to automate everything in php, literally, everything, even snmp monitoring.
you need python, perl, ruby and bash, possibly also powershell.
perl for text parsing shit, ruby for shit like puppet, python for ansible and because its generally most comfortable since its so easy, bash when anything else is to much overhead..
powershell for AD things or vmware
